Abstract: One or more LAN switches capable of accessing the contents of a MAC address table, which the LAN switch contains, from the outside; and a presence server storing in a storage device a first correspondence table between a MAC address of a network interface, which equipment contains, and its user, and a second correspondence table between a port of the above-described LAN switch, and a physical range wired therefrom, are used to thereby obtain a correspondence table between the equipment, its user, and its physical location (range), whereby making applicable also to a wired LAN at the time of determining the location of the equipment or the location of a user using the equipment in a building, and making realizable at low cost, and allowing the location to be determined accurately within a predetermined segmented area, and not being affected even if an IP address is changed.

Abstract: An IP phone terminal registration method capable of reducing the workload as to telephone terminal setup and excluding working mistakes by achieving automated phone terminal registration is provided. Upon connection of a telephone terminal to IP network, a DHCP device issues a terminal registration request to a main apparatus. The main apparatus performs automated phone number allocation to thereby perform terminal registration processing. The DHCP device sends back to the telephone terminal an item of network information that contains therein IP address of the main apparatus and the phone number thus allocated. The phone terminal sets up the IP address of main apparatus and the phone number as self-terminal information, thereby automating the phone terminal registration.

Abstract: In a thin client system which provides a high-quality picture reproduction method and which makes it possible to use a thin client terminal as a TeleVision (TV) phone terminal and a TV conference terminal, a video reproducing module is disposed in a thin client server device and a graphics module is disposed in a thin client terminal. The thin client server device sets a transmission color to a video display area of screen data and sends the screen data via a remote control communication path and simultaneously sends video data via a second route. The thin client terminal receives the screen data and the video data and displays the screen and video data as an overlay image in one same screen using the screen overlay scheme.

Abstract: An extension telephone using an ordinary telephone circuit cannot be coordinated with a data terminal connected by an IP network. An extension telephone using an ordinary telephone circuit has none of the convenient functions of an IP telephone, such as implementing outgoing/incoming call data management and telephone book management on a PC. A telephone terminal using an ordinary telephone circuit and a data terminal in an IP network can however be coordinated by reflecting telephone calls and call signal details in an IP network by means of a telephone adapter which can send and receive IP network data and call signals using IP network data as a trigger.

Abstract: A proxy response terminal wherein information relating to the call being called is acquired and the call to which a proxy response is to be made is expressly specified so that the call may be responded. The proxy response terminal includes an incoming information acquiring means for requesting the information relating to the call in the calling state to the call control apparatus and a proxy response requesting means for issuing connection request specifying the call to which a proxy response is to be made based on the information notified by the call control apparatus.

Abstract: A wireless IP telephone system including a dynamic address lease server for leasing an IP address to each of terminals and a controller. The controller has information about the IP address, a SIP URI of the terminal, a type thereof, and a function thereof. The information of the controller is dynamically set by a system administrator who manually sets the information or by the dynamic address lease server and the controller which are cooperated. The controller decides an effective period of the address to be leased to each terminal, informs the dynamic address lease server of the fact, and requires the address lease server to release the address which became unnecessary.

Abstract: To provide a thin client (TC) system at least capable of using a thin client terminal as a telephone terminal in a thin client system. In a personal TC (PTC) system consisting of a PTC server with a server side telephone control section consisting of a call control section, and a PTC terminal with a terminal side telephone control section consisting of a device control section and a voice packet communication section, and a handset connected to the PTC terminal, this is achieved by notifying an IP address of the PTC terminal as an communication target IP address to be notified upon call connection, and notifying the PTC terminal an IP address of a telephone terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for file operation comprise a file operation method which enters, prior to the file operation, processing methods for exceptional events which are expected to occur during the file operation, a file operation method which, at the occurrence of an exceptional event during a file operation, holds the file operation, saves information pertinent to the held file into a memory, and inquires the user of the processing method of the held file for the exceptional event, and a file operation method which displays a list of hierarchically organized files at multiple levels so that multiple files can be designated as objects of operations.
