Abstract: A drug delivery system compound comprising a carboxy(C1-4)alkyldextran polyalcohol modified with a saccharide compound and a residue of drug compound bound to the carboxy(C1-4)alkyldextran polyalcohol, and a method for measuring a drug delivery system compound in which a polymer carrier and a residue of drug compound are bound to each other by a spacer comprising 2 to 8 amino acids linked by peptide bond(s), which comprises treating the drug delivery system compound with a peptidase, and measuring the resulting hydrolysate.

Abstract: A sulfated polysaccharide DS4152 useful as an angiogenesis inhibitor or antitumor agent is provided selectively. As the sodium salt, it has the following physicochemical characteristics. Molecular weight by the gel filtration method: 29,000.+-.3,000. Elemental analysis: C: 24.42-25.76%, H: 3.34-3.98%, N: 0.51-0.89%, S: 10.6-11.7% and P: 0.77-1.06%. Sugar and protein contents: Sugar content (%): 57.+-.3 (by phenol sulfuric acid method; standard: galactose). Protein content (%): 1.+-.0.5 (by the Lowry-Folin's method; standard: bovine serum albumin). Specific rotatory power [.alpha.].sub.D.sup.25 : -37.degree..+-.1.degree. (0.5% aq. solution). Characteristic absorption bands in infrared absorption spectrum: 1240, 840 (shoulder), 810 (cm.sup.-1 ; KBr).

Abstract: In a process for producing 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid which comprises subjecting a 1-nitronaphthalene-3,6,8-trisulfonic acid reaction mixture to reduction, subjecting the resulting 1-naphthylamine-3,6,8-trisulfonic acid salt mixture to alkali fusion and subjecting the alkali fusion mixture to precipitation by mixing with an acid to obtain 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid as a partial alkali metal salt, the amount of acids and bases used can be curtailed and the quality of the product can be improved by performing the precipitation by mixing said alkali fusion mixture with said 1-nitronaphthalene-3,6,8-trisulfonic acid reaction mixture, separating the precipitated partial alkali metal salt of 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid by filtration, and using as a starting material for said reduction reaction the resulting filtrate containing 1-nitronaphthalene-3,6,8-trisulfonic acid and/or a salt thereof.
