  • Publication number: 20210309476
Abstract: An image reading device includes a magnetizer that magnetizes a metal object attached to a document, a magnetism detector that is disposed on the downstream side of the magnetizer in a document transport direction from a document stacking table toward the document transport path and detects residual magnetism of the metal object, and a metal object accompaniment determination unit that determines whether or not the metal object is attached to the document based on a detection result by the magnetism detector.

  • Publication number: 20210179374
Abstract: An image reading device includes: a document delivery unit for delivering a document loaded on a document loading platform to a document transport path; a flip-up detector for detecting flip-up of the document when the document is delivered; a metal detector for detecting metal attached to the document when the document is delivered; and a staple determination unit for determining whether or not a stapling process is applied to the document based on detection results of the flip-up detector and the metal detector.

  • Patent number: 10179714
Abstract: A retarding roller (a roller) is formed of a synthetic rubber (an industrial rubber material) such as ethylene propylene diene M-class rubber (EPDM) or polyurethane, or alternatively, silicone. The roller core of the retarding roller is cylindrical. M arc-shaped long holes (where M is an integer greater than or equal to 4) are formed in each of N layers (where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2) from a first layer (an outermost layer) to an Nth layer (an innermost layer) which are circular and concentric to a center axial line. In each layer, long holes are formed such that spokes in adjacent layers (an ith layer and an i+1th layer, where i is an integer from 1 to N?1) do not overlap in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 10079948
Abstract: According to detection results of a plurality of original document detectors, an image reading apparatus determines whether or not correcting skew of an original document is possible, controls a pair of a plurality of transport rollers in a case where it is determined that correcting the skew of the original document is possible, and corrects the skew of the original document by making transporting speeds of the pair of the plurality of transport rollers different from each other.

  • Patent number: 10009495
Abstract: There is provided an image reading apparatus that, when double feeding of documents is detected by a double feeding detector, transports the documents in the reverse direction of the transport direction at least until the leading edges of the double-fed documents are positioned at the upstream side of transport roller pairs by rotating a separation roller and a retard roller so as to transport the documents in the reverse direction, and that thereafter transports the documents in the transport direction by rotating the separation roller so as to transport the documents in the transport direction. When the documents are transported in the reverse direction, the image reading apparatus sets a second rotation speed of the retard roller to be faster than a first rotation speed of the separation roller.
