  • Patent number: 9139849
Abstract: Methods are described for construction of long synthetic arrays of DNA repeats, such as alphoid repeats or other repeat sequences. The methods include concatamerization of DNA into short repeats (for instance using rolling circle amplification or directional in vitro ligation), followed by assembling the short repeats into long arrays by homologous recombination during transformation into microbe cells. These methods can be described generally as Recombinational Amplification of Repeats (RAR). The long arrays are engineered centromere-like regions that allow one to construct mammalian artificial chromosomes with a predefined centromeric region structure. Artificial chromosomes, including human artificial chromosomes with a regulated centromere, and methods of their use are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100226149
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a converter power-supply apparatus that is efficiently operable for a wide-range load. A power-supply control device controls a boost converter. The boost converter includes a basic switching circuit, an expansion switching circuit that is connected in parallel with the basic switching circuit. A control circuit supplies a control signal to the basic and the expansion switching circuit through a first and a second signal line, respectively. A detecting unit detects a voltage and/or a current in a predetermined point of the boost converter. A comparison circuit compares a detected value with a reference value and supplies a first signal when a load is relatively heavy, a second signal when the load is relatively light. A control signal switch connects the second signal line when receiving the first signal, and disconnects the second signal line when receiving the second signal.

  • Patent number: 5813939
Abstract: In a vehicle drive system having a torque split arrangement, it is difficult to have all the rotating parts of the system to be properly balanced. In particular, when a rotational speed difference is produced between the two output elements, relatively massive parts which may not be properly balanced may have to be turned at a high speed. According to the present invention, because the power output of the engine is reduced whenever any significant speed difference is produced between the two output elements, no part of the drive system is subjected to any excessive rotational speed, and are therefore not required to have any excessive mechanical strength. This improves the reliability of the system, and reduces the manufacturing cost.
