  • Patent number: 6615662
Abstract: A plurality of ultrasonic transducer elements are arranged on the top surface of a probe, which is a concave spherical surface, so that ultrasonic beams transmitted from the ultrasonic transducer elements will intersect at a point coincident with the center of curvature of a curve delineated by the top surface. At this time, the acoustic lines conically propagate over a region beyond the point of intersection. Namely, the ultrasonic beams transmitted from the ultrasonic transducer elements pass through the point of intersection coincident with the center of curvature, and then conically and three-dimensionally propagate over the region beyond the point of intersection. Thus, acoustic lines are three-dimensionally transmitted to a wide region beyond an intercostal part of a physiological body or any other narrow space, and echoes returned from the region are received. Consequently, the wide region can be three-dimensionally monitored.

  • Patent number: 6529907
Abstract: A service quality management system which is capable of adaptively controlling a quality of a service provided by a distributed object is provided. The system is provided with a first storage for saving information about a relation between a server for the distributed object and a priority set to services to be provided by the server and a second storage for saving information about a relation between an identifier for communication path under the control of a node and a priority set for processing made on the node. At the time of a request for activation of the server, the priority set to services provided by the server is read out by using priority reading from the first storage and the information about the identifier for communication path corresponding to processing with the same priority as that read from the priority reading device is read out by using an identifier reading device from the second storage.

  • Publication number: 20020109822
Abstract: In order that the outside surfaces of a projector are flat at non-use times of the projector and a control panel is disposed at an upper portion of a projector main body for good operability at the time of using the projector, a front cover provided with a control panel on its back side is turnably supported on the projector main body by double hinge mechanisms, so that the projector as a whole is box-shaped with flat outside surfaces when the front cover is stored in a storage position for covering the front side of a projection lens, and the font cover is directed to the skewly rear upper side of the projector main body when the front cover is turned from the storage position for covering the front side of the projection lens to an open position at an upper portion of the projector main body.

  • Patent number: 6322506
Abstract: An inclination angle detecting device comprises a reference arm attached near the contact area of an ultrasound probe with one end thereof being rotatably attached, a pressing means which presses the reference arm in a direction away from the ultrasound probe, and a detecting unit for detecting the amount of rotation of the reference arm. Placing the ultrasound probe against the surface of the body causes the reference arm to be rotated and pressed against the surface of the body in close contact, whereby the inclination angle is detected from the amount of rotation.

  • Patent number: 6172271
Abstract: This invention provides a method for reclaiming oil from waste plastic in such a way that thermosetting resins and solid foreign matter in the plastic will not pose a problem. This method greatly reduces the burden of presorting the garbage or industrial waste. To achieve this objective when oil is to be reclaimed from a waste plastic containing chlorine compounds, such as vinyl chloride, the plastic must first be stripped of chlorine. Prior to pyrolysis, while being conveyed forward in a continuous stream, the plastic is mixed with heated sand and/or an additive agent to raise its temperature to 250-350° C. This creates a product which is comprised of a mixture of sand and substantially dechlorinated plastic. The product is mixed with heated sand to heat it directly to a temperature of 350-500° C. It is maintained at this temperature until pyrolysis occurs.

  • Patent number: 5913173
Abstract: A radio-frequency device has a distributor and a tuner. The distributor has an input terminal which is disposed on one side face of a case; an output terminal which is disposed on another side face; and an output terminal which is disposed on the upper side face. The output terminal, and an input terminal of the tuner are respectively protruded at positions which are separated from the bottom face by a substantially same distance. A metal flat plate portion is led out from the side of the distributor and coupled to a receiving portion of the tuner on the side of the input terminal. Therefore, the output terminal of the distributor is directly connected to the input terminal of the tuner, so that a radio-frequency cable for connecting the units to each other is not necessary. A space reduction and a low production cost can be realized.

  • Patent number: 5822332
Abstract: A pseudonoise (PN) code pull in circuit is capable of shortening a time necessary for synchronously pulling in the reception PN code in an error code measuring circuit. In order to solve the problem, the PN code pull in circuit of the invention is constructed such that the reference PN code read out by the PN code generating circuit in the reverse sequence and the reception PN code are compared by a first comparator to detect a coincidence, and the reception PN code delayed for one clock and the reference PN code are compared by a second comparator to detect a coincidence. Furthermore, from the comparison results by the first and second comparators, one that is coincident is selected by the selection circuit, the error number of the code is counted by the error counter, and the forward or reverse sequence of the PN code generated by the PN code generating circuit is made switchable.

  • Patent number: 5778388
Abstract: In a database management method and a database management system in which transactions need not be stopped at a synchronization point (syncpoint) acquired at a fixed interval of time, when a point to acquire a syncpoint is reached in a database control procedure, a syncpoint acquisition start log is output and then a syncpoint acquisition flag is set ON in a page control table of each updated page existing in a buffer pool. In the operation, a list of update page control tables is also created to write in the database the pages which are indicated in the list thus prepared. However, for a transaction accessing the pertinent updated page prior to the write operation thereof in the database, the data write operation is performed before the page is referenced, thereby enabling the access to be performed to the database without interrupting the transaction.

  • Patent number: 5738775
Abstract: Electrically regenerable desalting apparatus having the desalting compartment packed with ion exchangers produced by utilizing radiation-initiated graft polymerization, in which said ion exchangers are nonwoven fabrics in the form of a fiber assembly and a cation exchanger and an anion exchanger are disposed in a face-to-face relationship, with a porous material being interposed between the two ion exchangers. Having the ability to reject ions from liquids, the apparatus is particularly suited to the production of pure water in the electrical power generating industries (including the nuclear industry), electronic industry and the pharmaceuticals manufacturing industry, as well as to the desalting of thick fluids encountered in food and chemical manufacturing processes.

  • Patent number: 5692289
Abstract: A loading method and a system therefor for guiding a magnetic head onto a magnetic disk medium using a guiding jig. The guiding jig has a first guiding surface that is parallel to the recording surface of the magnetic disk medium when positioned next to the edge of the disk, and a second guiding surface that is inclined with respect to the first guiding surface. The magnetic head slides on the second guiding surface to the first guiding surface, and then onto the recording surface of the magnetic disk.

  • Patent number: 5659719
Abstract: A data multiplex circuit possessing a short delay for generating a signal which is synchronous with the phase of the data from the data generation circuit, and for generating a multiplex clock corresponding to this signal. A data generation circuit generates a reference signal which is adjusted to match the output of the data. This reference signal is compared to a multiplex clock by a comparison circuit. The output of the comparison circuit is then converted by a control circuit into a reset signal which, based on the phase difference, resets a dividing circuit for multiplexing. The dividing circuit resets continuously until the phase of its output signal matches that of the data output of the data generation circuit. By resetting the dividing circuit, the phase of the multiplex clock signal to be input into multiplex circuit is correlatively synchronized with regard to the delay of the data generation circuit.
