    Abstract: A display system for a vehicle includes a plurality of sensors, a priority determining module, a display control module, and display unit having two display segments. The sensors detect various vehicular conditions to provide signals to the priority determining module. Each signal is assigned a degree of priority of high or low level. On input of signals to the priority determining module, determination is made as to whether the received signals are high or low level. If the received signal is high level, information indicated by the received signal is displayed on both segments of the display unit, while if it is low level, indications on one of the display segments is interrupted and information indicated by the received low level signal is display on the interrupted display segment.

    Abstract: A warning system for burned-out condition of automotive lamps including brake lamps, high-mount lamps and tail lamps, includes a detection circuit for monitoring the lamps to produce a first signal indicative of the presence of a burned-out lamp, and for monitoring a brake-lamp switch and a light switch to produce a second signal when the brake-lamp switch is ON and a third signal when the light switch is ON. The warning system also includes a control unit which receives the first, second and third signals and determines the identity of the lamp group including at least one burned-out lamp, and an indicator which indicates the identity of the lamp group including at least one burned-out lamp on the basis of the determination by the control unit.

    Abstract: A meter is disclosed wherein a light source is disposed behind the face thereof. A light path from the light source is defined in part by a reflective surface on the needle which directs light from the light source onto a portion of the face that is in the immediate vicinity of the needle. The reflecting surface is opaque which causes the needle to appear as a silhouette over the illuminated portion of the face.
