  • Publication number: 20070021302
Abstract: The surface layer of a receptive layer has a water-absorbing property, and when the surface layer of the receptive layer is glossy and a layer to be printed covers up to a clamp area, the medium has a high possibility of causing a sticking of the receptive layer to a chucking mechanism in a drive. For this reason, an optical disk has been demanded which does not cause the peeling of the receptive layer in the clamp area while being used as the medium, provides a clear printed image, and copes with a high-resolution wide printing. In order to make the surface of the receptive layer not stick to the chucking mechanism of the drive, it is necessary to roughen the surface, but when a colored fine particle is contained in the receptive layer, a printed image on the receptive layer becomes unclear.

  • Patent number: 6276366
Abstract: A cigarette testing apparatus includes a ventilation-characteristic measuring section having a ventilation vessel which is disposed horizontally so as to reduce the vertical dimension of the apparatus. A cigarette is supplied in a horizontal position from a cigarette supplying section to a weight measuring section where the cigarette weight is measured. The cigarette ejected therefrom is transferred to a circumference measuring section, a ventilation-characteristic measuring section and a length/hardness measuring section in this order in a condition that the horizontal position is kept unchanged. In these sections, the circumference, ventilation characteristic, length and hardness of the cigarette are measured in sequence.

  • Patent number: 6057936
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an open interior space that retains ejected printed sheets. The apparatus includes a scanner that operates in a book-scanning mode of operation and a printer that includes a sheet ejection side wall in which an opening is formed for ejecting a printed sheet there through and a pair of support walls for supporting the scanner thereon. Each of the pair of support walls is orthogonal to the sheet ejection side wall and shorter in length than a length of the scanner in a longitudinal direction. In the image forming apparatus, the scanner is mounted on the sheet ejection side wall and the pair of support walls in a way such that a front part of the scanner projects in a horizontal direction from front edge sides of the sheet ejection side wall and the pair of support walls so that an interior space for handling the printed sheet is formed under a bottom part of the scanner that projects from the front edge sides of the sheet ejection side wall and the pair of support walls.
