  • Patent number: 5713070
Abstract: An image forming apparatus having an overall original-copy recording function for effecting image recording automatically in one simple operation without loss of any part of the overall original image. A scanner is used to scan an original copy to detect the original-copy size. In the absence of an original-copy skew, the original-copy size is assumed to be equal in size to the original image, whereas in the presence of the original-copy skew, the size of a square internally touched by the skewed original copy is made the original image. Selection is made of copying paper whose size is greater than a combination of the detected original-copy size and a copying paper skew and of a memory corresponding to the selected copying paper size, so that the original image that has been read is stored. The original image is formed on the selected copying paper before being output.

  • Patent number: 5583711
Abstract: A method of writing on a two-reel, belt driven, multitrack tape cartridge wherein tape tension increases with the progress of tape transportation from one reel to another. Forward tracks on the tape are predivided into a first group adjacent the tape centerline and a second group adjacent one tape edge, and reverse tracks are similarly predivided into a first and a second group. Writing on each of the first group of forward tracks is started in a position spaced a less distance from the tape beginning than on each of the second group of forward tracks. Writing on each of the first group of reverse tracks is also started in a position spaced a less distance from the tape end than on each of the second group of reverse tracks. Thus the tape offers a greater storage capacity than if, as is conventional in the art, writing on the first groups of forward and reverse tracks is started in the same longitudinal tape position as on the second groups of forward and reverse tracks.

  • Patent number: 5372321
Abstract: A tape transport apparatus configuration with a mounting portion, a single moving base, a motor, a pulley, and an urging mechanism. The mounting portion mounts a cartridge having an externally driven roller, and an information recording tape that runs in accordance with a rotational force of the roller. The moving base that has the motor is provided to the side of the roller, in the cartridge mounted to the mounting portion. The pulley is provided to the moving base and is rotationally driven in accordance with rotation of the motor. The urging mechanism acts on the moving base so that the pulley is brought into contact with the roller in the cartridge mounted to the mounting portion, and is pressed against the roller.

  • Patent number: 5315462
Abstract: A cartridge case having locking notches in both of its side faces is guided by guide rails when it is loaded into an information recording/reproducing apparatus. The cartridge case is locked in its prescribed loaded position by clampers which push the case from both sides thereof. Each clamper has a truncated-cone-shaped roller which is urged by a spring toward the center line of the apparatus and which pushes the insertion-side bottom edge of the locking notch.

  • Patent number: 5277352
Abstract: A tape driver for use in a tape recorder or similar devices which use a data cartridge provided with a drive roller. The tape driver including a motor unit laterally disposed relative to the data cartridge and an idler located between the motor unit and the drive roller on the data cartridge such that the motor unit rotates the drive roller through the idler. Alternatively, a pulley rotated by the laterally located motor unit is used to directly rotate the drive roller.

  • Patent number: 5272579
Abstract: An apparatus for driving an information recording tape housed in a cartridge having a case accommodating a pair of spools rotatable around shafts, the information recording tape wound on the both spools, a drive roller, a rotation transmission mechanism transmitting the rotation of the drive roller to the pair of the spools comprises a cartridge holding mechanism holding the cartridge, a drive motor having a stator and a rotor, the rotor being arranged outside of the stator and covering the stator, the drive motor having a roller member formed of an elastic material provided on an outer circumferential surface of the rotor, and a pressing mechanism pressing the roller member of the drive motor against the drive roller in the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4748526
Abstract: A cleaning cassette for use in cleaning, with a cleaning stick having a body of cotton or like absorbent material on one end thereof, the magnetic transducer head of an apparatus for data transfer with a magnetic tape cassette. The cleaning cassette has a casing shaped and sized like the tape cassette so as to be loaded in and unloaded from the apparatus through its entrance in the same way as the tape cassette. The cleaning cassette casing has one or more apertures defined in its front side, and a guide passageway for the cleaning stick extends along the front side of the casing. The guide passageway has an entrance end which, when the cleaning cassette is loaded in position in the appearance, is open to the entrance slot of the apparatus.
