  • Publication number: 20040234591
Abstract: A hard gelatin capsule is provided which comprises gelatin and titanium oxide having a secondary particle size of less than 10 &mgr;m and a median diameter of 0.5 &mgr;m or less being dispersed in the gelatin. A process for producing a hard gelatin capsule includes the steps of preparing a gelatin solution, dispersing titanium oxide in the gelatin solution so that a secondary particle size of the titanium oxide becomes less than 10 &mgr;m and a median diameter of the same becomes 0.5 &mgr;m or less, and molding the dispersion to prepare a capsule.

  • Publication number: 20030219478
Abstract: A capsule is made by filling a medical formulation, food or food additive which has an aldehyde group in the molecule, or readily forms an aldehyde group, into a capsule made of pullulan as a base.

  • Publication number: 20030200899
Abstract: Natural pigments that can be blended into capsules that satisfy the stability and characteristics required for capsules under practical conditions of production and that also have an aesthetic color. Hard capsules can include 0.01 to 5.0% by weight of natural pigment or natural pigment derivative selected from the group consisting of gardenia red pigment, marigold pigment, purple corn pigment, tamarind pigment and sodium iron chlorophyllin, or from 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of titanium dioxide together with said pigment.

  • Patent number: 5456746
Abstract: A hard film composition for capsules comprising a gelatin, from 3 to 10% by weight of an ester of a fatty acid and glycerol or polyglycerol. The capsules formed by the composition of the invention are not embrittled when the moisture in the capsule film is reduced by charging therein a hygroscopic drug, Consequently, cracking and chipping of the capsule are reduced and leakage from the capsule caused by such damage is also reduced.
