  • Patent number: 6235685
Abstract: A rod 1 made of superconducting oxide is soaked in a molten normal conductor 2 to join the rod 1 and the normal conductor 2, whereby a superconducting oxide current lead is prepared. As a result, a contact resistance at the interface between the superconducting oxide and the normal conductor can be reduced. Consequently, Joule's heat at a current lead having a small cross sectional area can be suppressed low, which in turn realizes the reduction of the load on a freezer and the amount of evaporated cooling solvent, with respect to a superconducting coil.

  • Patent number: 6156555
Abstract: A purified enzyme-I is obtained that participates in C-terminal amidation by acting on a peptide C-terminal glycine adduct to form a peptide C-terminal .alpha.-hydroxyglycine adduct. The enzyme has an optimum pH of about 5 to 7, an optimum temperature of 25 to 40.degree. C. and a molecular weight of about 25 kDa or about 36 kDa, and metal ions and ascorbic acid act as a cofactor. A purified enzyme-II is obtained that participates in C-terminal amidation by acting on the peptide C-terminal .alpha.-hydroxyglycine adduct to produce a C-terminal amidated compound. The enzyme has an optimum pH of about 5 to 6, an optimum temperature of 15 to 35.degree. C. and a molecular weight of about 40 kDa or about 43 kDa. Enzyme-I does not act on the peptide C-terminal .alpha.-hydroxyglycine adduct and enzyme-II does not act on the peptide C-terminal glycine adduct. The enzymes may be purified from a biological material such as horse serum by affinity chromatography using a peptide C-terminal glycine adduct as a ligand.

  • Patent number: 6135038
Abstract: A high-functional computer sewing machine can be obtained at a low cost. The inventive computer sewing machine comprises a data signal input/output part and a control part. The data signal input/output part transmits/receives a data signal to/from an externally set data input/output unit by data communication through any of a transmission line, radio and light. The control part controls the operation of a sewing machine body on the basis of the data signal from the data input/output unit received by the data signal input/output part. Thus, when using a commercially available game machine or the like as the data input/output unit, no data input/output unit dedicated to the sewing machine need be separately purchased while the sewing machine body need not be provided with a high-priced liquid crystal touch panel for inputting data.

  • Patent number: 5860610
Abstract: A torque command supplied to a tape running unit for drawing out and driving a tape wound on a first reel is modulated by a torque modulator depending on a moment of inertia of the first reel, a winding radius of the tape wound on the first reel, a moment of inertia and a rotating radius of the tape running unit, which are detected by a parameter detector. The first motor is responsive to the modulated torque command for rotating the first reel, thereby keeping the tension of the tape constant.

  • Patent number: 5841946
Abstract: A chaotic character evaluating apparatus includes a processor for predicting future variation in sequential data and a processing for determining a degree of accuracy of the prediction, a processor for predicting variation of the sequential data in reverse and a processor for determining a degree of accuracy of the prediction, and a processing for comparing the degrees of accuracy with each other. If the degrees of the accuracy differ from each other, the variation of the sequential data is determined to be attributable to chaos, while when the degrees of accuracy are substantially equal to each other, the variation in the sequential data is determined to be attributable to noise. Further, a control apparatus for generating a control value from a feedback signal output from an object under control and having chaotic components eliminated is realized. Thus, it is possible to easily and accurately determine whether variation in the sequential data is attributable to chaos or noise.
