Patent number: 5990800Abstract: The invention relates to a device which aims to improve safety and reliability in a remote engine starting and stopping device for construction machines. A starting signal for starting an engine is transmitted to a construction machine from a transmission which is separate from the construction machine. The starting signal is received by a receiver on the construction machine. When the starting signal is received by the receiver, an engine starting device is driven for starting of an engine on condition that an operating lever for a working machine being on a neutral position is detected by a neutral position detection. As a result, a danger of the working machine coming into motion in an unmanned state is avoided for improvement of safety. Further, if the engine having worked is detected by a working condition detection after an engine starting device is driven by the engine start, the engine is made to work until a predetermined period of time elapses after a point of time when the detection is effected.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Komatsu Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Tamaki, Toyoichi Ono, Hiroshi Oshima, Tasuku Nakano, Toshiaki Nawa, Yuji Fukano

Patent number: 5247784Abstract: A walking operator type lawn mower having stepless transmissions allocated to right and left rear wheels for changing speed of engine drive and outputting the drive to the right and left rear wheels, respectively, whereby the right and left rear wheels may be driven at different speeds. Right and left control members operable by a speed control lever frictionally fixable to a selected position are interlocked to change speed arms through springs, respectively. The change speed arms are pivotable, following operation of the shift levers, for controlling change speed rates of the stepless transmissions. The change speed arms are also operable by a pair of right and left auxiliary levers to move toward a backward drive position regardless of speed setting position of the speed control lever. A constant speed straight cruising run is obtained by retaining the speed control lever in a selected position to operate the change speed arms of the right and left transmissions substantially the same amount.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1992Date of Patent: September 28, 1993Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Junichi Kitamura, Yoshio Tomiyama, Hiroshi Oshima

Patent number: 5155985Abstract: A lawn mower controllable by a walking operator and having two control levers each for controlling a brake and a propelling clutch. Each control lever is pivotable to a "run" position to engage the clutch and render the brake inoperative, a "neutral" position to disengage the clutch and render the brake inoperative, and a "stop" position to disengage the clutch and operate the brake. Each control lever is constantly urged to the "stop" position by a spring. The lawn mower further includes a locking lever for maintaining the control levers in the respective "neutral" positions and "stop" positions. The lawn mower is driven by an engine to engage in a grass cutting operation with the control levers maintained in the "run" positions by the urging springs. The operator may push the mower to engage in a grass cutting operation with the control levers maintained in the "neutral" positions by the locking lever.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Oshima, Junichi Kitamura, Hirofumi Sadakane, Yoshio Tomiyama, Hideo Okura

Patent number: 5138824Abstract: A safety system for a lawn mower having an engine, a propelling transmission line for transmitting drive from the engine to drive wheels, and a PTO transmission line for transmitting drive from the engine to a grass cutting unit. An engine start is allowed when the propelling transmission line is inoperative. The engine is stopped when the propelling transmission line is operative and a driver is in a non-driving state. A steering section includes an arch-like steering handle, and an auxiliary handle having a shape substantially corresponding to the steering handle and pivotable from an upper position projecting above the steering handle and a lower position depressed below the steering handle. The driver is determined to be in the driving state when the auxiliary handle is in an intermediate position adjacent the steering handle.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1991Date of Patent: August 18, 1992Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Oshima, Hideo Ohkura, Hirofumi Sadakane, Yoshio Tomiyama

Patent number: 5020310Abstract: A lawn mower comprising a vehicle body including a first connecting frame in a forward portion thereof, and a vertically adjustable grass cutting unit including a second connecting frame for pin connection to the first connecting frame. The first connecting frame defines two pin-receiving bores arranged horizontally, one of which is a circular fitting bore and the other a slot providing play. The second connecting frame defines three pairs of pin-receiving bores, the respective pairs being disposed at different heights from the ground. The slot in the first connecting frame has a sufficient length to be connected to one of the top or bottom bores of the second frame while the circular bore is connected to the diagonally opposite bore of the second frame.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1990Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Assignee: Kubota Corp.Inventors: Hiroshi Oshima, Hideo Okura

Patent number: 5002519Abstract: A dual tension clutch comprising a drive pulley, a driven pulley, and a transmission belt wound around the drive and driven pulleys. Opposite runs of the transmission belt are pressed inwardly by two spring-loaded tension pulleys supported by tension arms pivoted to each other. A triangular frame, as guided by a fixed pin, acts on the tension arms to spread the tension pulleys apart to relax the transmission belt. In the declutching state so established, the tension pulleys are opposed across and equidistant to a line extending through centers of the drive and driven pulleys.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1990Date of Patent: March 26, 1991Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Oshima, Hideo Okura, Hirofumi Sadakane

Patent number: 4882897Abstract: A walking operator type lawn mower comprising a steering handle extending rearwardly thereof, a cutting blade clutch for making and breaking drive transmission to a cutting blade, and a clutch lever pivotable between a clutch engaging position adjacent the steering handle and a declutching position away from the steering handle. A manually operable interlocking member and a control device are provided between the clutch lever and the cutting blade clutch. The control device is constantly urged to a position to disengage the clutch. The interlocking member is switchable between a position to interlock the clutch lever and the control device and a position to release the two components from each other, and is constantly urged to the release position. The cutting blade clutch is engaged only when the interlocking member is maintained in the interlocking position and the clutch lever is moved to the clutch engaging position.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1988Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Assignee: Kubota, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Oshima, Hirofumi Sadakane, Takao Katayama, Jinnosuke Takakura, Hisatake Fujioka
