    Abstract: In an ignition system for an internal combustion engine in which the flow of a primary winding energizing current is switched on and off in synchronism with the rotation of the engine and a high voltage is induced in the secondary winding upon switching off of the energizing current, an energizing current is supplied again at around the top dead center of each cylinder and then decreased gradually and interrupted in accordance with a sawtooth waveform whose voltage attains a predetermined potential at around the top dead center and then decreases gradually.
