  • Patent number: 6012808
Abstract: A container for containing printing liquid for supplying to an ink jet head for an ink jet recording apparatus. The container includes first and second chambers, with the first chamber containing negative pressure producing material and having an air vent communicating with ambient air and a supply port for supplying printing liquid to the ink jet head. The second chamber communicates with the first chamber via a communication port and provides a printing liquid reservoir for the first chamber. In an area adjacent a wall extending from the communication port, a capillary force provided by the negative pressure producing material decreases in a direction perpendicular to and towards that wall at least adjacent a part of the communication port which is uppermost when the container is in use.

  • Patent number: 5993547
Abstract: In a resist deposition machine, an edge rinse mechanism comprising a cover covering and surrounding an exfoliating-agent discharging nozzle and having an opening formed at a position in the proximity of a peripheral edge portion of a wafer held on a vacuum chuck, and a forced-exhausting tube coupled to the cover. In an edge rinsing operation, the peripheral edge portion of the wafer is accommodated through the opening into an inside of the cover, and a resist exfoliating agent is discharged from the exfoliating-agent discharging nozzle to a peripheral portion of a resist film formed on the wafer held on the vacuum chuck, so that a dissolved resist material and the resist exfoliating agent are scattered into the inside of the cover, and forcibly exhausted from the cover through the forced-exhausting tube. Thus, it is possible to prevent the dissolved resist material and the resist exfoliating agent from adhering on a resist pattern formation zone of the resist film formed on the wafer.

  • Patent number: 5995249
Abstract: An image reading apparatus, having RGB photoreceptors comprising a CCD line sensor, reduces influence of color mixture due to intrapixel transfer in which electric charges from a photoreceptor are transferred via another photoreceptor. The RGB photoreceptors are provided close to each other in parallel, between CCD shift units corresponding to the photoreceptors. The electric charges generated at the G photoreceptor and the B photoreceptor are directly transferred to the CCD shift units. The electric charges generated at the R photoreceptor are transferred to the CCD shift units via the B photoreceptor. That is, the electric charges generated at a photoreceptor having a larger electric charge-generating characteristic are transferred via a photoreceptor having a smaller electric charge-generating characteristic. Further, a transfer direction in which the electric charges are transferred and a subscanning direction in which an original is conveyed upon reading by the photoreceptors are in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 5991344
Abstract: Provides a mobile communication device and a method for setting an AFC initial value which enables the transmission of required frequency signals even when there is no received signal as during inspections of mobile communication device performance such as technical standards conformance certification. Makes it possible to input an established frequency signal that includes a unique word into the mobile communication device as a received signal, to store a frequency offset value detected by an automatic frequency control function when the unique word included in this established frequency signal is detected in the mobile communication device, and to transmit a more accurate frequency signal when testing the performance of the mobile communication device by controlling the automatic frequency control function so that this stored frequency offset value is treated as an initial value.

  • Patent number: 5978271
Abstract: In the semiconductor memory device which has nonvolatile memory cells, the bit lines which are typified by high capacitances, are isolated from the input/output nodes of the corresponding sense amplifiers during the amplifying operation of the sense amplifier. A flip-flop circuit, such as a CMOS latch circuit, is used for each of the sense amplifiers and a switch circuit is connected between each input/output of each sense amplifier and the data (bit) line associated therewith and is turned OFF immediately before or after commencing of the amplifying operation of the sense amplifier. During the amplifying operation of the sense amplifier, the data (bit) line, having a large parasitic capacitance as a result of being typically connected to a large number of nonvolatile memory cell transistors, such as of the single transistor type having both a floating gate and control gate electrodes, is electrically disconnected (electrically isolated) from the sense amplifier.

  • Patent number: 5930949
Abstract: The germination of seeds is improved by treating the seeds with a solid-form super absorbent polymer that has absorbed water. Super absorbent polymer particles that contain an amount of water such as about 5 to 7 times their weight that is significantly less than the amount of water they are able to absorb such as about 80-120 times their weight and do not substantially adhere to each other are mixed with seeds to form a mixture that may contain a volume ratio of seeds to polymer particles of 0.2 to 5:1. The mixture is stirred while supplying air or gaseous oxygen into the mixture for a time and at a temperature sufficient to cause the seeds to imbibe sufficient water to enhance their vigor for sprouting, but insufficient to cause sprouting. The mixture is sieved to obtain seeds having essentially no adhering polymer residue of the particles, after which the seeds may be dried. The polymer particles may be spherical, and before absorbing water have a size of 50 to 300 .mu.m.
