  • Patent number: 5203756
Abstract: A pressurizing roller for use in a laminator to bond a film to a panel has a hollow outer shell and flanges on both ends. A roller shaft extending through the flanges and the outer shell transfers its angular moment of force via bearings directly to the flanges and via the flanges to the outer shell to provide uniform distribution of pressure by the roller outer shell to the film and panel. The outer shell is heated to a uniform temperature throughout.

  • Patent number: 5194121
Abstract: A needled felt for papermaking use of the present invention comprises fibers (having a specific fineness or diameter) formed of a polyamide block copolymer, particularly, polyamide block copolymer having hard segments composed of polyamide components such as nylon 12 and soft segments composed of polyether components, the felt of the present invention is excellent in elasticity, recovery and durability compared with other fibers exhibiting rubber-like elasticity such as polyurethane elastic fibers, in addition, the felt of the present invention facilitate needling which has been difficult with prior art rubbery elastic fibers.

  • Patent number: 5159845
Abstract: In an engine used for a portable working apparatus such as a brush cutter, there are arranged a drive gear rotated by a starter motor, and a driven gear engaging with the drive gear and connected to a crankshaft through a nonreturn clutch. The driven gear is fixed to the crankshaft until the starter motor starts the engine and released from the crankshaft after the start of the engine and after a rotational speed of the crankshaft exceeds that of the starter motor.

  • Patent number: 5114526
Abstract: A film bonding apparatus in which a film cut to a length corresponding to that of a base plate is bonded to the surface of the plate by the application of heat and pressure with a bonding roller. The film is provided from a continuous roll and is cut to appropriate size, the trailing edge of the film being held tightly to avoid film wrinkling or air bubbles by the suction action of an edge holding member whose effective length is not less than the maximum width of the films to be bonded by the apparatus. The holding member is moveable, at a speed equal to or slightly less than the rotative circumferential velocity of the pressure roller, the speed being automatically adjusted to maintain appropriate tension on the film. Coordinated movement between the film holding member and the pressure roller is provided by a gear mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5110391
Abstract: An apparatus for bonding a thin film to the surface of a substrate wherein the film is supplied from a continuous roll to a bonding position where a roller applies heat and pressure to cause the film to be bonded to the substrate. A rotary cutter rapidly cuts the continuous film to a length which fits precisely over the substrate. The cutter comprises a stationary knife and a rotary knife which are disposed on opposite sides of the continuous film. The knives are moveable between a cutting position and a non cutting position and are adjustable to provide in the cutting position a rapid cut of the film transversed to the direction of film travel. The apparatus is operative to hold the leading edge of the film, direct the leading edge to a bonding position at the leading edge of the substrate, hold the film in tension as the film is pressure bonded to the substrate and further hold the film in tension for cutting to its appropriate length.

  • Patent number: 5093687
Abstract: A developing unit comprising a developing chamber having an upper film pass roller and a lower film pass roller, a gasifying chamber, and a heating chamber, discharging outlets connecting from the heating chamber to the developing chamber at upper and lower portions of the upper film pass roller, and sucking inlets connecting from the developing chamber to the gasifying chamber at upper and lower portions of the lower film pass roller, so that the surface area of each sucking inlet is made substantially equal to that of each discharging outlet. This improves convection efficiency of the hot blast and thus temperature differences between the upper and lower portions within the developing chamber thereby preventing tone variations of the copied images.

  • Patent number: 5039630
Abstract: Disclosed is a granular multi-cellular glass and a method for producing the same. An ordinary multi-cellular glass grain having relatively low moisture content ratio was prepared as starting material. The glass grain is then dipped in water or alkali solution for eluting or dealkali treatment. By the dipping, soluble alkali components are mainly eluted from a surface layer and cell walls of the glass grain. Thus produced multi-cellular glass grain provides increased moisture content ratio because of the formation of micropores at the layer and cell wall portions. Disclosed also are controls of physical properties of the multi-cellular glass grain for controlling specific gravity, pore volume and pore diameter thereof. By these controls, resultant glass grain is provided with desirable physical properties available for a microcarrier for immobilizing microbe therein.

  • Patent number: 4874282
Abstract: A pallet stocker for a printer in which the pallets, containing film for printing are stacked in a column in pallet supports. To access a given pallet, the higher pallet supports are raised out of the way and the remaining pallets are raised so that a suction arm can remove the top exposed pallet from a fixed level.
