  • Patent number: 7299053
Abstract: A portable communication equipment comprises a radio communication sections (13), (14) for transmitting and receiving a CDMA signal, a base band modem section (16) for modulating a speech signal into a CDMA signal and demodulating a CDMA signal into a speech signal, and a CPU (17) for controlling the transmission and reception of a CDMA signal. When the equipment fails in capturing a selected channel and falls in a condition when a system was lost, the CPU (17) retries to capture the selected channel. The CPU (17), when it fails in capturing the selected channel, selects another channel only when it tries to capture the selected channel for a predetermined number of times as well as it does not obtain an overhead message. With this arrangement, it is possible to capture an appropriate channel if an unsuitable channel is selected and the portable communication equipment falls into a condition when a system was lost.

  • Patent number: 5974221
Abstract: A playback device has a head provided on a rotary drum to read signals recorded on a tape to produce a playback signal, and a playback signal processor for processing the playback signal. The playback device also includes a timing generator for generating a sync signal used in a varied-speed playback in which playback is performed at a speed different from a speed used for normal playback; a selector for selecting the sync signal between one for the normal playback and one for the varied-speed playback; and a drum rotation controller using the sync signal generated by said timing generator as a reference signal for the rotation of the rotary drum during varied-speed playback. With the above configuration, the vertical and horizontal sync signals supplied to the monitor are maintained to have a constant period. As a result, the resultant images on the monitor are free from disturbances, and it is possible to avoid muting.

  • Patent number: 5139304
Abstract: A rear bumper structure includes a main bumper body portion adapted to extend transversely of a vehicle body and an airfoil member provided beneath the main bumper body portion and adapted to extend transversely of the vehicle body. The airfoil member is located, with respect to the main bumper body portion, so that it has a space between the airfoil member and the main bumper body portion. The airfoil member has a rear end portion defining a lower marginal portion of the space between the airfoil member and the main bumper body portion. The airfoil member further has an upper surface which is configured to direct at least a part of the air flow beneath the vehicle body smoothly, in line with a flow of air, and convexly upward, toward the space between the airfoil member and the vehicle body.
