  • Patent number: 6144202
Abstract: A pair of gradient field pulses of the same applied time and the same intensity are applied before and after a radio-frequency (RF) refocusing pulse (180.degree. pulse) as additional gradient field pulses to enhance the phase shift of a transverse magnetization spin, caused by the diffusion of a molecule including a target nuclide. To compensate for image deterioration caused by an unnecessary field distribution which is produced by the additional gradient field pulses, a compensation gradient field pulse dGcp and a compensation offset gradient field dGoffset are applied and a center frequency at the time of receiving and detecting an echo signal is shifted by df.sub.0.

  • Patent number: 5788297
Abstract: A resin-made shock absorbing member for a vehicle used as a bumper bean of the vehicle and the like and the method for producing the same. The resin-made shock absorbing member for the vehicle is structured to include an elongated curved portion (20) having a hollow portion, and an attachment portion (30) for fixing to a vehicle body (11) to be united and thus continuously formed with the curved portion (20) at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the curved portion (20). By structuring the attachment portions (30) to have a hollow portion and a solid portion, at least extending in the longitudinal direction of the curved portion (20), attachment work can be carried out from the outer side of the vehicle, and the shock absorbing function can be ensured along the whole length of the member (10).

  • Patent number: 5777473
Abstract: In specific magnetic resonance imaging, magnetization spins are repeatedly excited by excitation pulses, and echoes are repeatedly generated after each of the excitation pulses. The echoes so generated are acquired as echo signals. Based on these echo signals, image data is reconstructed. According to the present invention, the number of times the magnetization spins are excited by the excitation pulses is input by an operator and, based on this input number, the number of echoes generated by one excitation is determined. Image-pickup time can easily be computed on the basis of the number of times of excitation and the time required for repeating fixed excitation pulses. The operator is able to easily control the image-pickup time by controlling the input number of times of excitation.

  • Patent number: 5534091
Abstract: The present invention related to a method for joining ceramic members and an insertion member to be employed in the joining method. In the present invention, ceramic members are heated by the induction heating in a state that a heating ceramic member having a conductivity larger than those of the ceramic members to be jointed is intervened between the ceramic members to be jointed. In this induction heating, the heating ceramic member having a larger conductivity is mainly heated and the temperature of the butting portion is raised up to a temperature needed to join the ceramic members. Upon joining the ceramic members, it is desirable to press the butting portion but is not necessarily needed. In the case without the pressing, it is desirable to form a layer of a joining agent on each of the butting surfaces of the heating insertion member beforehand.

  • Patent number: 5420509
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus of a multi-slice scheme, data of a low frequency component in a phase-encoding direction are acquired from a predetermined number of slices within a predetermined repetition time corresponding to a desired contrast, data of a high frequency component in the phase-encoding direction are acquired from slices, which are different depending on a sign of a frequency thereof and which number is half the predetermined number of slices, within a repetition time shorter than the predetermined repetition time. Complex conjugate data of the acquired data or 0 data are utilized as data which are not acquired, thereby reconstructing images of the predetermined number of slices. Since data of slices that cannot be acquired due to shortening of the repetition time can be restored by utilizing the complex conjugate data or 0 data of the acquired data, the scanning time can be shortened without decreasing the number of slices to be acquired.

  • Patent number: 5352385
Abstract: Described in a joining agent for joining electrically ceramic bodies by heating the joining agent inserted at the parts to be jointed between the ceramic bodies with an electric current flowing predominantly through the joining agent at high temperature. The joining agent is superior in the wetability and reactivity with the ceramics to ensure the joint part strength. The joining agent includes, as an electric conductor, an electric conductive component made of an ion conductor consisting of fluoride, chloride, and/or oxide, which forms carrier ions by the pre-heating and has an electric conductivity higher than that of the ceramic body at the electric current supplying time. During the supplying electric current to time, the joining agent has the electric resistance increased gradually at the molten state of the joining agent by decreasing the density or the mobility of the carrier ions.
