  • Patent number: 7369365
Abstract: A medium-opposed surface of a slider body is hemisected into first and second areas by the centerline extending in the longitudinal direction of the slider body. The second area is designed to generate a positive pressure larger than that generated at the first area when a load acting on the slider body in a direction toward a recording medium decreases. The head slider of the type is allowed to enjoy the imbalance of the lift on the slider body. This imbalance can be utilized to intentionally induce increases in the roll angle and the pitch angle of the slider body. The increase in the roll and pitch angles causes disappearance of the lift and the negative pressure generated at the medium-opposed surface. The head slider can reliably be distanced from the moving surface of the recording medium solely with the assistance of the airflow acting on the medium-opposed surface.

  • Patent number: 7154702
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a head actuator for a head provided so as to accessible to a disk-shaped recording medium rotating above a base. The head actuator includes a main actuator driven so as to rotate above the base, and a microactuator driven so as to swing relative to the main actuator. The head is mounted on the microactuator. The main actuator and the microactuator are controlled so that the head is moved in a substantially radial direction of the recording medium and positioned over a desired track of the recording medium. A primary resonant frequency of mechanical characteristics of the main actuator is set to 100 Hz or higher. This setting may be achieved by increasing a preload in a ball bearing of the main actuator, for example, to thereby increase the rigidity of a nonlinear spring of the ball bearing. In the case that a disturbance acts on the main actuator, the above setting allows a reduction in displacement of the microactuator required for positioning of the head over the desired track.

  • Publication number: 20050033983
Abstract: The present invention is designed to enable a secure device to authenticate a terminal application that operates on an information processing terminal and that accesses the secure device. An application issue request transmitter (301) of the information processing terminal (30) sends a request for issue of a terminal application to an application issuer (101). The application issuer (101) of an secure device (10) reads a terminal application (31) from an application storage (105) and embeds authentication information in the terminal application (31), associates an ID and the authentication information of the terminal application (31) and save them in an issue information storage (106), and sends the terminal application (31) to an application receiver (302) of the information processing terminal through an application transmitter (102). The application receiver (302) starts the terminal application (31).

  • Publication number: 20050015275
Abstract: With respect to a secure device 10 for executing a data storing operation and a data calculating operation under secrecy condition, a first application program 15 and a second application program 11 are retained. The program 15 causes an information processing terminal 30 mounted thereon this secure device 10 to execute a process operation by utilizing a resource of this information processing terminal 30. The program 11 causes the secure device 10 to execute such a process operation under secrecy condition in conjunction with the process operation of this information processing terminal 30. When this secure device 10 is mounted on the information processing terminal 30, this secure device 10 loads the program 15 to the information processing terminal 30 so as to install this loaded first application program therein. Then, a terminal application program required to execute a service is automatically installed to the information processing terminal 30.

  • Patent number: 5017341
Abstract: An agglutination analyzing vessel for use in an immunological agglutination reaction in which there is provided a liquid-absorbable member made of porous material in at least a portion of an inclined bottom surface of a well provided in the analyzing vessel. A solution for a test liquid is absorbed into the liquid-absorbable member to cause a liquid flow directed downwardly in the test liquid. This downward liquid flow promotes the sedimentation of particles. Thus, both agglutination and non-agglutination particle patterns can be formed on the bottom surface of the vessel within a short time period.

  • Patent number: 4591568
Abstract: In a distributing method for sucking a desired amount of a sample liquid in a sample vessel and discharging the thus sucked sample liquid into a reaction vessel, a probe for sucking and discharging the liquid is connected to a syringe driven by a pulse motor. A photoelectric detector is provided for detecting whether the sample liquid is existed or not up to a predetermined level in the sample vessel and an actual amount of the sample liquid aspirated by the syringe is detected by a counter which counts clock pulses during the aspirating operation. When the liquid level descends lower than the predetermined level, the counting operation is stopped. The actual amount of the aspirated liquid in the probe is compared with a desired amount stored in a memory. When the actual amount of the sucked liquid is smaller than the desired value, an alarm is produced.
