  • Patent number: 7235284
Abstract: There is described a recording sheet for ink jet printing comprising a polyethylene coated paper support having coated onto the front side of said support one ink receiving layer comprising a mixture of gelatin and rice starch.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 1998
Date of Patent: June 26, 2007
    Assignee: Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH
Inventors: Mario Fryberg, Stefan Schuttel, Hiroshi Tomimasu
  • Patent number: 6447841
Abstract: The invention relates to ink jet printing and a process for ink jet printing wherein a coating is formed on an ink receiving layer containing a plastic pigment. The coating is fused into a durable coating which is water-resistant, has some lightfastness, is scratch resistant and can be used in indoor and outdoor environments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 2, 1999
Date of Patent: September 10, 2002
    Assignee: International Paper Company
Inventors: Jeanlynn Mets, Yaoliang Hong, Mike Koenig, Hiroshi Tomimasu, Jerry Yang
  • Publication number: 20020009576
Abstract: Ink receiving media for use in ink jet printing and other digital printing applications. The ink jet media each include a microporous film of polymeric material. In one embodiment, a hydrophobic microporous polymeric film is treated with a hydrophilic polymeric melt additive. In another embodiment, a microporous polymeric film is coated with a microparticle coating comprising colloidal or submicron inorganic pigment particles and organic polymers as binders. Optionally, the microporous polymeric film is laminated to any one of a variety of substrates.

  • Patent number: 4975578
Abstract: Distribution of mass density of paper or other materials is determined by irradiating a sample with a burst of electron beams from an electron gun. The intensity levels of electron beams emerging from said sample are detected by an areal detector located immediately behind the sample. These intensity levels are processed to derive distribution of mass density information for the sample. The electron beam detector may be a photographic film or a realtime electron beam detector assembly coupled to computer controlled digital data processing and displaying equipment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 17, 1989
Date of Patent: December 4, 1990
Assignee: The Research Foundation of State University of NY
    Inventors: Hiroshi Tomimasu, Philip Luner
