  • Patent number: 8159110
Abstract: A fluid actuator includes a piezoelectric body (31), a fluid channel (2) having the piezoelectric body (31) on a part of the inner wall thereof and enabling a fluid to move inside, and a surface acoustic wave generation portion (101) for driving the fluid in the fluid channel by surface acoustic waves generated from a interdigital electrode formed on the surface of the piezoelectric body (31) facing the fluid channel (2). The surface acoustic wave generation portion (101) is arranged at the position offset from the center of the fluid channel (2). The fluid actuator can perform drive with a low voltage and drives the fluid in a narrow fluid channel in a single direction.

  • Patent number: 7656077
Abstract: A laminated piezoelectric device obtained by alternately laminating the piezoelectric layers containing Pb and the conducting layers containing palladium as a conducting component, wherein the piezoelectric layer formed between the two conducting layers has layer regions where Pb and Pd are mixed together in the interfacial portions thereof relative to the conducting layers, the layer regions having a thickness of not larger than 3% of the thickness of the piezoelectric layer. The laminated piezoelectric device is formed by co-firing the Pb-containing piezoelectric layers and the palladium (Pd)-containing layers, the piezoelectric layers therein having a large insulation resistance and good piezoelectric characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6859116
Abstract: A piezoelectric resonator comprising a piezoelectric substrate having a tapered portion as viewed from the side thereof, and drive electrodes provided on both opposing tapered surfaces of said tapered portion. The piezoelectric resonator corrects the dispersion in the thickness of the piezoelectric substrate relying upon the positions where the drive electrodes are formed, and makes it easy to finely adjust he frequency for compensating the dispersion in the thickness.

  • Patent number: 6437484
Abstract: A piezoelectric resonator having a resonator element in or on a substrate, said resonator element comprising a laminate of a plurality of piezoelectric ceramic layers and a plurality of electrode layers which are alternately laminated one upon the other, the piezoelectric ceramic layers neighboring up and down being set to oscillate in opposite phases relative to each other. In the piezoelectric resonator, the piezoelectric ceramic layers neighboring up and down undergo the thickness longitudinal oscillation in opposite phases, suppressing the oscillation of the fundamental mode and strongly exciting the oscillation of a mode of a high degree of not lower than the second degree. The piezoelectric resonator utilizing the mode of a high degree of not lower than the second degree is little affected by spurious caused by the oscillation of the fundamental mode.
