    Abstract: A saddle type four-wheel vehicle or buggy car for running on the unleveled ground in which a driver sits astriding on a saddle-type seat, and front and rear wheels are each provided with a tire of low pressure and wide width. The right and left front wheels driven by an engine are suspended on a vehicle body independently through an arm. Between the arm and the vehicle body, a shock absorber is disposed in such a posture as to direct in the generally horizontal direction. A drive gear case connected with the engine is placed at a forward location of a front axle. The drive gear case and the front axle are interconnected through a drive shaft having a universal joint at each end thereof. Otherwise, the front and rear wheels are suspended on the vehicle body through a front fork and a rear fork respectively, and the front wheels are driven by the engine through a drive shaft while the rear wheels are driven by the engine through a chain.

    Abstract: A differential case with a limited-slip mechanism includes a pair of axles held in coaxial relation to each other, a pair of side gears mounted respectively on inner ends of the axles, pinions interposed between and held in mesh with the side gears, a case housing the side gears and the pinions therein and supported on the axles, and a clutch mechanism interposed between the case and each of the side gears and including a plurality of discs arranged for mutual frictional engagement. The case comprises a central cylindrical body having opposite open ends and caps attached to the opposite open ends. The central cylindrical body has grooves extending axially thereof and defined in an inner peripheral surface thereof at at least one of the opposite ends, the discs having portions engaging in the grooves for preventing rotation of the discs. The caps and the one-piece central cylindrical body may be made of different materials.

    Abstract: A steering system in a motor vehicle having a frame includes a swing arm by which steerable wheels are swingably supported on the frame, a steering shaft extending substantially vertically in the frame and angularly movable about its own axis, a steering arm fixed to a lower end of the steering shaft, a connecting rod having one end pivotally coupled to the steering arm, a pivot arm swingable in unison with the swing arm and operatively coupled to an opposite end of the connecting rod, and a pair of tie rods having ends pivotally coupled to the pivot arm and opposite ends on which the steerable wheels are angularly movably supported. A point where the connecting rod is coupled to the steering arm is positioned in a space range which is swept by the swing arm when it is angularly moved about the shaft.

    Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a swing frame on a body of a vehicle in which rear wheels are rotatably mounted on the swing frame carried on the rear portion of the vehicle body so that the swing frame is swingable up and down with respect to the body, the rear wheels being driven by a shaft drive transmission mechanism accommodated within the swing frame. The swing frame comprises left and right rear arms disposed in a laterally spaced relation and extending longitudinally of the vehicle body and axle cases connecting the rear arms together and carrying the rear wheels, the left and right rear arms having left and right short pivot shafts, respectively, which are secured to the insides of the front portions of the left and right rear arms, these pivot shafts supporting the swing frame rotatably on the rear portion of the vehicle body for vertical swinging motion around the pivot shafts.

The four-wheel motor vehicle includes front wheel supporting means angularly movably mounted on the frame assembly and supporting the front wheels, the front wheels being supported at a positive caster angle by the front wheel supporting means when the front wheel supporting means is held at an angle to the frame assembly, rear wheel supporting means angularly movably mounted on the frame assembly and supporting the rear wheels, at least one damper interconnected between the frame assembly and the front wheel supporting means, and at least one damper interconnected between the frame assembly and the rear wheel supporting means. The leveling mechanisms are combined with the dampers for adjusting distances between the frame assembly and the front and rear wheel supporting means when the dampers are inoperative.

    Abstract: An operation device of a clutch master cylinder including a clutch master cylinder slidably incorporating therein a piston and a clutch lever pivotally supported by a pivot on a lever holder and having a piston operating arm. The clutch lever has a bearing hole formed substantially parallel to the pivot and a rotor is turnably fitted into the bearing hole. A push rod which comes into contact with the piston so as to be able to rock is interconnected to the rotor. To adjust the play stroke of the clutch lever, the length of the push rod is adjustable in one embodiment of the invention. In another embodiment, the pivot is fitted to a shaft hole of the clutch lever and the axis of the pivot is eccentrically disposed with respect to the center of the shaft hole.

    Abstract: An improvement in a shaft drive apparatus which is an outer casing extending over and liquid-tightly enclosing a torque damper on a propeller shaft which interconnects the output shaft of an internal combustion engine to a bevel gear mechanism on the rear wheel of a motorized two-wheeled vehicle. The casing is attached to the propeller shaft to rotate therewith. An outer covering can cover a universal joint which interconnects the torque damper and the input shaft of the bevel gear mechanism. The outer cover extends over and liquid-tightly surrounds the universal joint and engages the outer casing and has its interior in communication with an interior of the outer casing. The interior of the bevel gear casing can also communicate with the interior of the outer casing.
