Abstract: This invention relates to a data conversion system utilizing a cell comprising: a shift register supplied with a plurality of data for sequentially shifting the data; a memory, supplied with data in a certain area of the shift register as addresses, storing data for outputting a predetermined value when data in the certain area are in a pattern to determine the value of the center dot of the area, or for outputting an instruction signal for determining the value of the center dot according to dot data outside of the certain area when data in the certain area are not in a pattern to determine the value of the center dot of the area; and an operation unit for selecting and outputting said predetermined value from said memory when no instruction signal is supplied from the memory and for outputting the value of the center dot by determining it from data outside the certain area per the instruction signal.

Abstract: A data processing system including a normalizing unit for receiving a part of a plurality of pixels in a one-pixel column of image data in parallel and for magnifying or contracting the data in the vertical direction in the one pixel-column, and a transposing unit for transposing image data magnified or contracted in one direction obtained from the normalizing unit and for reprinting the transposed data to the normalizing unit. This invention is applicable to data processing by character recognition devices for reading characters of different sizes.

Abstract: This invention pertains to a data processing system for pattern recognition by sorting the scores of the candidate patterns by their feature vectors per an associative matching method. It aims first at determining feature vectors at a high speed even if a recognition device obtains dictionary data in dot units, second at determining scores by an association conformance recognition device, and third at sorting inputted data from the highest score at a high speed.
