  • Patent number: 5865607
Abstract: The present invention is intended to remove foreign matter such as worn powder in a refrigerating cycle and enhance the reliability in a refrigerating cycle using, in particular, HFC refrigerant. In the invention, accordingly, a coil shaped connection piping is provided in at least front portion or rear portion of a throttling unit, a fine pipe is connected to a lower portion of the connection piping, and a collector for collecting foreign matter in the refrigerating cycle is coupled to this fine pipe. Foreign matter in the refrigerant is separated from the refrigerant by centrifugal force, and is collected in the collector. Moreover, the foreign matter collecting effect is enhanced by disposing a magnetic piece in the collector.

  • Patent number: 5842846
Abstract: In a hermetic type compressor, a sliding part (11) between a main shaft (4) and a lower end plate (8) is large in wear, and it is not allowed to operate stably for a long period. By communicating between the sliding part (11) and an oil feed pump (9) through an oil feed port (12), refrigerating machine oil (2) is supplied by force into the sliding part (11), and hence the lubrication is improved and the reliability is enhanced. In particular, it is preferably applied to the hermetic type compressor using HFC derivative refrigerants.

  • Patent number: 5726837
Abstract: The magnetoresistance effect element is of a multilayered structure having at least magnetic layers and an intermediate layer of an insulating material, a semiconductor or an antiferromagnetic material against the magnetic layers, and the magnetoresistance effect element has terminals formed at least on the opposite magnetic layers, respectively, so that a current flows in the intermediate layer. The film surfaces of all the magnetic layers constituting the magnetoresistance effect element are opposed substantially at right angles to the recording surface of a magnetic recording medium. Therefore, the area of the magnetic layers facing the recording surface of the magnetic recording medium can be extremely reduced, and thus the magnetic field from a very narrow region of the high-density recorded magnetic recording medium can be detected by the current which has a tunneling characteristic and passes through the intermediate layer.

  • Patent number: 5695326
Abstract: A compressor for a refrigeration machine is provided without any problems of reduction in the life of a thrust bearing structure even when a substitutive coolant not containing any chlorine is used. In the compressor for a refrigeration machine having a thrust bearing made of steel for supporting a thrust load applied to a drive shaft, a thrust bearing surface made of a material different from that of the drive shaft is formed in the thrust bearing by means of a surface treatment. Alternatively a washer defining the thrust bearing surface may be surface treated to provide a material different from that of the drive shaft. The washer may also be made of a material different from that of the drive shaft. According to the the present invention, even when a boundary lubricating state is produced between the drive shaft and the thrust bearing surface sticking is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5563752
Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing device using a giant magnetoresistive film for providing high detection sensitivity. In the giant magnetoresistive film comprising a conductive nonmagnetic film, first and second conductive ferromagnetic films, a magnetization fixing film for fixing a magnetization direction of the first ferromagnetic film, and a pair of electrodes for making a detection current flow, when no external magnetic field is received and no detection current flows, a magnetization direction of the second ferromagnetic film is made non-orthogonal to the magnetization direction of the first ferromagnetic film. Magnitude of the detection current is determined so that when no external magnetic field is received and detection current flows, they are orthogonal to each other upon receipt of a magnetic field due to the detection current.

  • Patent number: 5461517
Abstract: In a magnetic disk device having a composite head with an induction type of recording head adjacent a magneto-resistance effect type of reproducing head, a read error relief is provided to relieve read errors caused by Barkhausen Noise or Base Line Shift phenomenon inherent to the magneto-resistance effect type of reproducing head. Upon occurrence of a read error, a re-try function is first executed, and a track offset function is executed for relief of the read error. However, if the read error is not relieved after the offset operation and the re-try operation have been performed a predetermined number of times, then a pseudo write-in and/or read current control operation is performed together with the offset operation and/or re-try operation for a predetermined number of times. The control operation varies the magnetic domain structure in the head magnetic film (MR film).
