    Abstract: A passenger conveyor comprises a moving handrail mounted on a guide rail provided around a balustrade and a handrail driving device for driving the moving handrail to move circulatively. The moving handrail is constituted by a core member and a surface decorative member which is removably attached, i.e. removably engaged, to the core member, and the core member is driven by the handrail driving device. The moving handrail may be constituted by a core member and a surface decorative member which are formed separately and joined together.

    Abstract: An apparatus for transmitting power by a chain engaged with sprockets incorporates therein with a chain retaining member at a position at which the chain engages with one of the sprockets for maintaining the engagement between the chain and the one sprocket. With the provision of the chain retaining member, even if the chain becomes loose due to elongation with age, disengagement of the chain from the sprockets can be eliminated, resulting in a reduction in the frequency at which the chain tension must be adjusted.

    Abstract: A main frame of a passenger conveyor has a plurality of frame sections divided along the length thereof. Each adjacent pair of frame sections have opposed joint members provided at joint portions of the frame sections. When the frame sections are provisionally assembled, one of the joint members is formed therein with a positioning hole whereas the other joint member is fixedly connected with a positioning pin which, when the frame sections are re-assembled at an installation site, is engaged with the positioning hole to facilitate easy and quick re-assembly of the frame sections.
