Patent number: 4522567Abstract: A swash plate compressor especially suited for automotive vehicles. The inner housing may be moved in the rear housing in the front and rear direction, as the occasion may demand, for adjusting the compression capacity or performance of the compressor. A partition wall is projectingly projected at the front side of the inner housing for defining an inner or discharge chamber and an outer or suction chamber. A plurality of clamp bolts for fixedly clamping together a rear cylinder block and the rear housing are passed through said suction chamber. The rear wall of the inner housing is formed with an annular thin-walled portion lesser in thickness than the valve plate on the front surface of said inner housing. By the function of said thin-walled portion, the inner housing may be flexed readily to absorb valve plate strain.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1983Date of Patent: June 11, 1985Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Kimio Kato, Hisao Kobayashi, Takamitsu Mukai, Hiroya Kono, Taku Yamamoto

Patent number: 4403921Abstract: A multi-cylinder variable delivery compressor containing a plurality of compression chambers is adapted for use in compressing a refrigerant gas of a cooling circuit. The compressor has a first delivery chamber communicating with the compression chambers by way of a fixedly arranged delivery valve means and a second delivery chamber communicating with the compression chambers by way of a movably arranged delivery valve means. The movable delivery valve means is urged from its closing position toward its opening position, and is moved back to its closing position when a delivery pressure from the cooling circuit is applied to the movable delivery valve means.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1981Date of Patent: September 13, 1983Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Kimio Kato, Hiroya Kono, Hisao Kobayashi

Patent number: 4393966Abstract: An operation control apparatus is provided of a compressor having a rotary shaft which is rotated by a driving apparatus by way of a clutch. The operation control apparatus comprises a recess or projection formed in or on one end surface of the rotary shaft as a portion-to-be-sensed offset from the axis thereof, an electromagnetic sensor disposed in facing relation with a locus described by the recess or projection according to the rotation of the rotary shaft, and a pulse monitoring circuit connected to the sensor. The sensor generates a periodic pulse signal in response to rotation of the rotary shaft. The pulse monitoring circuit generates a clutch release commanding signal to the clutch when it receives no pulse signal from the sensor for a predetermined time duration to protect the driving apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1980Date of Patent: July 19, 1983Assignees: Toyoda Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Nippon Denso Company LimitedInventors: Hiroya Kono, Jun Hasegawa, Mitsukane Inagaki, Hisao Kobayashi

Patent number: 4364306Abstract: A swash plate type compressor, in which there is incorporated a plurality of double-headed compressor pistons, each being formed with an axially central recess between two heads thereof. Inside the recess a generally outer part of the swash plate is arranged so as to establish an operative connection between each piston and the swash plate. The axially central recess has a bottom surface a part of which protrudes toward an outer surface of the swash plate. The protruding part serves to restrict a rotation of each piston about its own axis to a given small amount. The protruding part has an axial length determined so that when each compressor piston approaches one of the two compression dead centers, an outer edge of the swash plate comes away from the protruding part.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1979Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Mitsuhiro Hattori, Tomoo Fujii, Hiroya Kono

Patent number: 4355959Abstract: A rotation sensor for sensing a swash-plate type compressor being in rotational state. An electromagnetic sensor including a permanent magnet and a coil disposed in the neighborhood thereof is fixed on a housing of the compressor such that it may be opposed to a part of a rotational locus described by a specific portion of the external periphery of the swash-plate. The electromagnetic sensor generates a signal pulse everytime the specific portion passes nearby. When the swash-plate is made of a non-magnetic material some magnetic body is fixed on the external periphery of the swash-plate for constituting a portion-to-be-sensed. This magnetic body may be a ring or lump of ferrous material, a temperature sensitive ferrite, a permanent magnet, etc.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1980Date of Patent: October 26, 1982Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Hiroya Kono, Jun Hasegawa, Mitsukane Inagaki, Hisao Kobayashi

Patent number: 4328678Abstract: A protecting device for protecting a refrigerant compressor from overheating or seizure caused by a shortage of refrigerant by any chance such as leakage thereof. The device includes a temperature sensor disposed on the outer wall of the compressor casing in the vicinity of a refrigerant intake suction suction port for sensing the temperature of the outer wall to output the sensed or measured data and a discriminator for discriminating an occurrence of refrigerant shortage by an excess of the data over a predetermined condition for comparison. The signals from the discriminator cause a warning issuance of the refrigerant shortage or an automatic stoppage of the compressor operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1980Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Hiroya Kono, Jun Hasegawa, Mitsukane Inagaki, Hisao Kobayashi

Patent number: 4307998Abstract: Shoes for operatively connecting a swash-plate with the compression pistons of a swash-plate type compressor are made from a novel Cu-based alloy. Improved shoes are characterized by a combination of high heat conductivity and excellent wear resistance properties particularly when subjected to a lubricating condition so severe that no lubricating oil is supplied to the surface of the shoes at the initial period of the compressor operation. At least three alloying elements are selected from Mn, Si, Pb, Sn, the IVb and VIb groups of the periodic table, and added in predetermined amounts to the Cu-based alloy, so that the properties mentioned above are simultaneously obtained. The compressor according to the present invention can be reliably employed, without the occurrence of seizure over a long operational period for air-conditioning vehicles, in which the sliding condition of the shoes is drastically varied with the rotation of the engine.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1978Date of Patent: December 29, 1981Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki Seisakusho, Taiho Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shozo Nakayama, Kimio Kato, Takamitu Mukai, Tomoo Fujii, Hiroya Kono, Tatsuhiko Fukuoka, Eizi Asada, Kenichiro Futamura
