  • Patent number: 8087831
Abstract: It is prevented that magnetic foreign matter adheres the magnet encoder 3a to deteriorate the reliability of rotation speed detection with the sensor 4a. The encoder 3a is provided on the outside of the combined seal ring 19 with reference to the bearing interior space 24, and the sensor 4a faces the encoder 3a. The knuckle 21 is placed close to the housing 33 of the drive shaft member 28 of the constant velocity joint 27 to form a labyrinth seal 20. The width of the clearance of this labyrinth seal 20 is up to 40% of the pitch of adjacent S-poles and N-poles that are arranged on the detected surface of the encoder 3a. With this construction, larger foreign matter is prevented from attaching to the detected surface of the encoder 3a to solve the above subject.

  • Patent number: 6928737
Abstract: A cylindrical portion 10 is not quenched, and its hardness of a cylindrical portion 10 is set at Hv200 to 300. An average cross sectional area of the crystal particle in this portion is set to be within 0.03 mm2. Accordingly, when a caulking portion is formed by expanding the cylindrical portion 10b to an inner ring 3 to a hub 2b made of carbon steel, cracks or the like are not formed in the resultant caulking portion.

  • Patent number: 6880898
Abstract: A bearing unit for a wheel has a rotary ring whose raceway surface is hardened by a thermal process. In this bearing unit, the side surface of a fitting flange for fixedly joining a rotary body for braking and a wheel, is formed by working in a predetermined configuration after the raceway surface of the rotary ring has been subjected to the thermal process. The raceway surface of the rotary ring is worked in a predetermined configuration and dimensions on the basis of the side surface of said fitting flange. This bearing unit can restrain disagreeable noises and vibration from being caused upon braking.

  • Patent number: 6862808
Abstract: An inner ring 3 is fit to a stepped part 8 formed on the inner end of a hub 2b. A desired pre-load is applied to rolling elements 5 in a state that an outer end face 28 of the inner ring 3 is butted against a step surface 12 formed on the hub 2b. The inner ring 3 is fit to the hub 2b by interference fitting causing a static friction force, which is larger than a thrust load acting on the inner ring 3 based on the pre-loading. Therefore, the inner end face of the inner ring 3 is clamped with a caulking portion, which is formed by expanding outward in the diameter directions a cylindrical portion 18 formed in the inner end of the hub 2b.
