  • Patent number: 7069697
Abstract: A door glass run includes a door glass run body having a U-shaped cross section, and a pair of lip portions each one of the lip portions extending from opposite sides of an opening edge of the door glass run body toward a bottom face portion of the door glass run body and effective to slidably contact with the door glass. The lip portions have lengths individually set so that, even if the door glass vibrates in the door glass run, the lip portions will not be spaced away from the door glass. Alternatively, a protrusion is provided on an inner wall face of the door glass run body. A height of the protrusion is set so that, even if the door glass vibrates, an end portion of one lip portion closest to the protrusion does not contact with an inner wall face of the door glass run body.

  • Publication number: 20020002796
Abstract: A door glass run attached to a door sash of a vehicle for sealing between the door sash and a door glass includes a door glass run body having a substantially U-shaped cross section, and a pair of lip portions extending from an opening edge of the door glass run body toward a bottom face portion of the door glass run body and slidably contacting with the door glass. The lip portions have lengths individually set so that, even if the door glass vibrates in the door glass run body, the lip portions may not be spaced away from the door glass.

  • Publication number: 20020001696
Abstract: A glass run has extrusion portions and a molded portion. The extrusion portions and the molded portion are provided with a body portion and seal lips. The body portion to be fitted to a sash is constituted by a bottom wall and a pair of side walls so as to have a substantially U-shape in section. The extrusion portions are molded so that the pair of side walls and corresponding to the portions are expanded, while the molded portion is molded so that the body portion corresponding to the portion has a substantially unexpanded U-shape in section. In addition, the shape of the body portion corresponding to the molded portion does not substantially change when the glass run is attached. That is, when the glass run is attached to the sash, it is not necessary to narrow the side walls corresponding to the molded portion. Therefore, the molded portion has no change in angle, curvature radius, circumferential length, and so on, before and after the attachment.

  • Patent number: 5766703
Abstract: An automobile weather strip having a main body made of a sulfur-vulcanizable ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) type compound and having a portion designed to be in contact with a sealer when the weather strip is mounted to an automobile. A sealer underlying layer is included that will be in contact with the sealer with that layer comprised of a bondability improving EPDM type compound and coextruded together with the main body. The bondability improving EPDM type compound is based on a blended polymer having a blending ratio:______________________________________ EPDM type polymer 60-96 wt % NBR type polymer 2-30 wt % hydrogenated SBR type polymer 2-30 wt %. ______________________________________A practical bondability can be ensured between the weather strip and the sealer with no pretreatment, such as by buff fabrication, to a portion of the weather strip to be abutted to or in contact with the sealer.

  • Patent number: 5679303
Abstract: An apparatus for extruding a weather strip having first and second function portions and a connecting portion interconnecting these function portions is disclosed. The connecting portion varies in width according to a longitudinal position along the weather strip. Included in the apparatus is a head, a main die plate which is mated with a front side of the head and which has a first opening for extruding rubber therethrough to form a first function portion, such as a mounting portion, and part of the connecting portion, a fixed die plate connected to the main die plate, and a movable die disposed in the fixed die plate. The movable die has a second opening for extruding rubber therethrough to form a second function portion, such as a sealing portion, and part of the connecting portion and is slidably received in a reception portion in the fixed die plate. A discharge rate of the rubber for forming the connecting portion is adjustable in accordance with the sliding movement of the movable die.

  • Patent number: 5250241
Abstract: A method and a device for forming a molded portion at an end of an extruded weather strip. The method includes the steps of placing the end of the extruded weather strip made of foamed elastic material in a cavity defined by a movable upper mold member and a fixed lower mold member which composes a mold, closing the mold with the end of the extruded weather strip clamped by a predetermined clamping force, injecting a foamable molding material into the cavity, moving the upper mold member up by an force not more than the clamping amount in the process of foaming of the foamable molding material to reduce clamping of the upper mold member and to enlarge the cavity, continuing molding with the upper mold member moved up until the foamable molding material fills the enlarged cavity, and opening the mold when molding of the molded portion is completed.
