  • Patent number: 9192914
Abstract: To provide an affinity carrier with a low pressure loss and a large binding capacity even when the linear flow rate of a solution to be made to pass therethrough is high. Silica spheres, which satisfy the following conditions: (a) the average particle size is from 30 ?m to 40 ?m as measured by a laser light scattering method; (b) the ratio (D10/D90) of the particle size (D10) of smaller 10% cumulative volume to the particle size (D90) of 90% cumulative volume in a particle size distribution as measured by a Coulter counter method, is at most 1.50; and (c) the average pore size is from 85 nm to 115 nm and the pore volume is at least 1.5 mL/g, as measured by a mercury intrusion technique.

  • Publication number: 20140127113
Abstract: To produce scaly silica particles in which formation of irregular particles is prevented. A process for producing scaly silica particles, which comprises a step of subjecting a silica powder containing silica agglomerates having scaly silica particles agglomerated, to acid treatment at a pH of at most 2, a step of subjecting the silica powder subjected to the acid treatment, to alkali treatment at a pH of at least 8 to deflocculate the silica agglomerates, and a step of wet disintegrating the silica powder subjected to the alkali treatment to obtain scaly silica particles.

  • Patent number: 7449250
Abstract: The present invention provides a gold-plated body, a method for surface treatment of a gold-plated body, a surface-treated product, and an immobilization method which make it possible to immobilize a large number of sulfur-containing molecules. With the surface treatment method in accordance with the present invention, the surface of a gold-plated body is subjected to an annealing treatment at a temperature of 350 to 790° C. so that a large number of sulfur-containing molecules can be immobilized thereon. In particular, the treatment is conducted so as to obtain a structure in which surface gold crystals have no less than 30% planes with (1, 1, 1) orientation. The present invention also provides a method for the manufacture of a gold-plated body that allows a large number of sulfur-containing molecules to be immobilized on the surface thereof, by which surface gold crystals are formed from a starting material comprising a crystal growth enhancer.

  • Patent number: 6749731
Abstract: A detection chip capable of detecting large amounts of genes with high sensitivity is provided. The gene detection chip comprises a plurality of pins 12 as measurement electrodes, a common electrode 22 as a counter electrode therefor, and a tabular member 14 with a plurality of pin holes 15 for accommodating the pins. An arrangement may be adopted in which the diameters of the pin holes 15 taper off in the direction in which the pins are inserted, and the pins are held in place in the narrowest sections of the pin holes 15.
