  • Patent number: 9067749
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which is capable of reducing time and effort for a user in setting a size of an irregular-size sheet. Width information indicative of a width of a sheet set by the user is stored in a storage unit. A width of the sheet held by a sheet holding unit that holds the sheet is detected. From the width information stored in the storage unit, candidates for a size of the sheet are extracted based on the detected width of the sheet. The extracted candidates for a size of the sheet are displayed on a display. A size of the sheet selected by the user from among the displayed candidates for a size of the sheet is set as a size of the sheet held by the sheet holding unit.

  • Patent number: 8634093
Abstract: An image processing apparatus capable of recording user information into an external recording medium, while preventing an occurrence of a security problem. The image processing apparatus generates user information about an image processing job, and determines according to predetermined recording medium categories whether security information can be stored into an external recording medium in a case where the user information is recorded into the external recording medium. When determining that the security information cannot be stored into the external recording medium, the image processing apparatus removes predetermined security information from the user information and records the resultant information into the external recording medium.

  • Patent number: 8363239
Abstract: This invention allows a user to immediately grasp the print status of a job only by inputting a print instruction of a job stored and held in an image forming apparatus. This invention also provides a user-friendly apparatus that notifies the user of a predicted time until completion of printing. For this purpose, the image forming apparatus of this invention has a touch panel formed on the display screen of the operation unit. A list of jobs registered in a Hold job list is displayed on the display screen. When the user selects at least one job and touches a “Test print” or “Print” button, the print job is registered in the print execution queue. Simultaneously, a list of unprinted print jobs registered in the print execution queue is automatically displayed.

  • Patent number: 8136086
Abstract: A multi function peripheral (MFP) is provided with a scanner and a printer for operating a copy function, and a macro control unit and macro function unit for operating a macro function in order to reliably operating the macro function even for an event generated asynchronously with a user operation. The macro control unit manages pairs of user operations and events generated by the user operations. The macro function executes a record process of generating a macro file constituted of a plurality of scripts from user operations and a reproduce process of reproducing the user processes. A script corresponding to an event of waiting for execution completion of a copy job is recorded in the macro file at a row next to the row at which a copy start script is written.

  • Patent number: 8086663
Abstract: If an instruction of a predetermined function is given at a device A in a network, the device A issues a notification request for inquiring whether or not it is possible to execute the function to devices B, C and D in a list of devices capable of cooperating with the device A. The device B receives the request and if the device B can not execute the function, then the device B issues a notification request including the search path of the device B to devices E, F and G included in a list of the device B. If the device B receives a response including a search path through the device E that can execute the function, from the device E, then the search path of the device B is added to the response and the response is sent to the device A.
