  • Patent number: 4414608
Abstract: An endoscope with an adapter used in combination with a light source unit including a socket having an electrical contact and a light source for illumination. The adapter includes a main body portion having a first connecting portion capable of being removably fitted with a connector of an endoscope and a second connecting portion capable of being removably attached to the socket, first electrical contacts disposed at the first connecting portion to be electrically connected with electrical contacts of the connector, second electrical contacts disposed at the second connecting portion connected to the first electrical contacts so as to be electrically connected with the electrical contact of the socket and a bore optically connecting a light guide in a projected pipe of the endoscope with the illuminating light source of the light source unit.

  • Patent number: 4409993
Abstract: An endoscope apparatus, wherein a microwave irradiator is provided in an endoscope distal end portion. The microwave irradiator includes a pole type antenna and a parabolic reflector which surrounds the antenna and has a parabolic plane. The antenna is directly connected to one end of a microwave-transmitting wire, and the other end of the microwave-transmitting wire is connected to a microwave oscillator of a microwave-generating device by means of a connector. When the endoscope distal end portion is inserted into a coeliac cavity of a patient, medical treatment microwaves having a prescribed radiation energy are conducted to the microwave irradiator through the microwave-transmitting wire. Microwaves emitted from the irradiator are projected on an affected coeliac tissue of a patient to be medically treated, for example, that in which a tumor is grown.

  • Patent number: 4300564
Abstract: A forceps for extracting stones in the pelvis of a kidney comprises a pair of shanks pivotally connected to each other and each having a finger ring at one end, a pair of arms extending from the other ends of the respective shanks away from the finger rings and being curved to deviate from the plane in which the finger rings are moved toward each other and away from each other, and a pair of stone-clamping members secured to the free ends of the arms, respectively, one of said stone-clamping members being a tubular member into which a telescope is inserted. The field of view of the telescope can be widened by moving the stone-clamping members away from each other, making it possible to correctly perceive both size and position of a stone in the pelvis of the kidney. While observing the stone through the telescope, the operator can easily and quickly hold the stone between the clamping members.

  • Patent number: 4270525
Abstract: A suction control device for an endoscope comprises a communication chamber communicating with a channel of an endoscope; an air chamber provided in the communication chamber and opening to the atmosphere; a communication hole connecting both chambers; a slider slidably disposed in the communication chamber and urged normally to such position as not to close the communication hole; a lid converting the slider; and a suction pipe communicating with the air chamber.

  • Patent number: 4224929
Abstract: An endoscope includes a distal end section, a pair of axially spaced annular cuffs mounted on the distal end section or a cuff member mounted on the distal end section having an opening formed in its intermediate portion and sealingly fitted at its edge portions on the distal end section, and a chamber formed in the distal end section and opened at the opening in the cuff member. By the expansion of the cuffs or the cuff member, a closed space is defined by the inner surface of a body cavity where an affected part exists, and the cuffs or the cuff member, and a medical instrument is accessible to the affected part through the chamber with blood or other body fluids cleared from the space during the treatment of the affected part. A communication duct extends along the digital end section such that it allows the blood or other body fluids to freely flow in the body cavity while the affected part is being treated.

  • Patent number: 3958566
Abstract: A sliding tube is disposed within a cylindrical insertion pipe. Around the insertion pipe there is provided a surrounding wall member defining a space with the pipe, said space communicating with a suction instrument via a suction pipe and simultaneously with the interior hole of the insertion pipe via a communicating port. The opening planes of the respective upper end opening portions of the insertion pipe and space are rendered substantially flush with each other, each of said upper end opening portions having a size large enough to permit it to be closed by the operator's finger. When an injection instrument is fitted into the upper end opening of the insertion pipe, the sliding tube is lowered to close said communicating port. The surrounding wall member is detachably fitted to a receiving member secured to an endoscope body.
