  • Patent number: 8260923
Abstract: A server system has a blade system formed of a plurality of servers that are mounted in one or a plurality of stages within a single chassis so as to have a plurality of different functions, and a management server for managing said blade system. The management server has means for grouping the plurality of mounted servers to manage for each function, means for managing the deployment of the plurality of servers within the chassis, and deployment changing means for changing the functions of the plurality servers and transposing the functions to change the deployment of the servers within the chassis. Thus, the deployment changing means makes the servers of each of the plurality of functions be arrayed in regular order within the chassis.

  • Patent number: 7614050
Abstract: Deployment technique that can distribute OS images at a high speed, and which includes a deployment machine (hereafter abbreviated to “DM”), a plurality of servers which are connected to the DM via a first communications network, and a storage system which is connected to the DM and the plurality of servers via a second communications network. The storage system includes a plurality of server storage devices that respectively correspond to the plurality of servers, and an original storage device in which an OS image is stored. The DM transmits a first instruction to produce the OS image inside the original storage device in each of the plurality of server storage devices to the storage system, and thereafter, the respective servers read the OS images in the server storage devices corresponding to themselves via the second communications network, and start the OS.

  • Patent number: 7590670
Abstract: A management system of difference data among servers compares files stored a first server and files stored in a second server. Information associates each file with a software product that produced the file. Contents of files that are stored in both the first server and in the second server are compared. If two files are judged to be different in contents, then the product name of the software product associated with file is output.

  • Publication number: 20060004909
Abstract: In a server system, functions of blade servers can be visually recognized at a glance. A change in load due to a failure can be detected to modify the system configuration by changing functions of blade servers. The server system includes a blade system including servers having different function types, the servers being installed in one or more stages in one enclosure, and a managing server for managing the blade system. The managing server includes a first managing section for classifying the servers into groups, a second managing section for managing a state of arrangement of the servers in the enclosure, and an arrangement changing section for changing functions of the servers discretely and for changing arrangement of the servers in the enclosure by replacing functions of the servers. The arrangement changing section arranges the servers in the enclosure on a function basis of the servers.

  • Patent number: 6957364
Abstract: The present invention realizes configuration management, failure monitoring and control of hardware resources in an open architecture computer on which a plurality of OSs run. A management agent 2111 run on a partition 211 performs communication with a management console 10, management of data on hardware and software failure occurred in the partition 211, and communication with a partitioning control unit 221. The partitioning control unit 221 utilizes partition configuration information 2211 to manage and control hardware allocated to each partition 211, and to intermediate communication between the hardware 231 and the management agents 2111. A hardware data collection unit 23111 manages configuration information of all the hardware in the computer, and monitors status of and failures in the hardware.

  • Publication number: 20050210465
Abstract: Disclosed is a management system of difference data among servers, for comparing files possessed by a first server and files possessed by a second server, the management system comprising a configuration information storage unit for storing file names including file path information in correspondence with group names to which the files belong; a file name storage unit for storing the file names of the files possessed by the first server; a file acquisition unit for referencing the file names of the first server stored in the file name storage unit and acquiring the files indicated by the file names from the first and second servers; a file comparison unit for comparing the contents of the files of the first and second servers acquired from the first and second servers; and a difference information output unit for, if the two files are judged to be different in contents by the file comparison unit, acquiring the group name corresponding to the file name of the file of the first server from the configuration in
