  • Patent number: 6934464
Abstract: An interface circuit that accepts control commands for creating AV files, and a hard disk control circuit, are provided, and loop recording can be performed on the basis of an AV file. Further, in loop recording operation, a frame number of a first frame of an AV file is stored in an AV file area management table as an offset value, and a position of each frame is managed by assigning a corresponding frame number from a start of loop recording onward, thereby enabling position indication such that the record position and reproduce position increase with the passage of time, even in loop recording mode.

  • Publication number: 20050163156
Abstract: It is objected to simplify a procedure concerning bandwidth acquisition. Bandwidth acquiring means 809 of a second transmitting apparatus 814 acquires a bandwidth which was used by a first transmitting apparatus 806 by using a propagation delay identifier804 read from first transmitting apparatus 806 and a maximum transmission data size 805 after stopping transmission of first transmitting apparatus 806. Each apparatus is composed so that transmission is started using this bandwidth and because returning and re-acquisition are not accompanied when the transmission is switched, necessary procedure can be simplified. Further, it is possible to effectively use the bandwidth by using a propagation delay identifier.

  • Patent number: 6834111
Abstract: A data transmitting and receiving method for improving transmission and reception efficiency can be obtained by improving the security through update of a control key and reduction of the frequency of the authentication and key exchange process. An STB 1 transmits encrypted digital data Kw (D) obtained by encrypting digital data D using a work key Kw, and an encrypted work key Kc (Kw) obtained by encrypting the Kw using a control key Kc. The Kc is periodically or non-periodically updated, and an identifier L identifying the Kc is assigned to each Kc. A VTR device 2 decrypts the received Kc (Kw) using the Kc obtained by performing the authentication and key exchange process with the STB 1, decrypts the Kw (D) received using the Kw to obtain the D. It is determined whether or not the Kc has been updated while the reception process is suspended by referring to the transmitted L when the reception process is suspended and then resumed.

  • Patent number: 6744777
Abstract: In a bus system in which a node identifier is allocated to each node, when a data file is transmitted from a transmission node 1 to a reception node 2, a control node 3 issues, to the node 1, a command including an identifier of the node 2 and a field value representing a number of data files to be transmitted to execute the data transfer, and in the case where the number of the data files is 1 or more, after the transmission of the data files of the number specified in the field is completed, the node 1 directs the node 2 to complete the transfer to thereby complete the data transfer, and in the case where the field value is 0, the transmission of the data files is continued, and thus an automatic disconnection mainly led by the data transmission node is adopted after the data transmission, which reduces issuance of commands to the minimum, attaining a high efficiency in processing.

  • Patent number: 6684210
Abstract: In the conventional file management system, there is a problem that even a file assigned permission information can be processed without considering any permission information. Therefore, the system includes a first accumulation device 2 for accumulating files to which permission information is added, and a new file management apparatus 7 for performing an input/output process on files with a request for a process from the application A 10 accessing the file management system taken into account according to the permission information added to the file. The new file management apparatus 7 compares the permission information added to the file in the first accumulation device 2 with the request contents of the process for the file from the application A 10, determines whether or not the process can be performed on the file, inputs the file from the first accumulation device 2 based on the result, and outputs it to the application A 10.

  • Publication number: 20030226011
Abstract: A Controller 20 sends to a Consumer 40 a command for reserving a plug/port in order to send/receive data using an Asynchronous transmission (Step 211) and receives information on a port connecting from the Consumer 40 (Step 212). The Controller 20 further sends to a Producer 30 a command for reserving a port/plug for sending content or the like (Step 213) and receives from the Producer 30 information on a Producer plug/port used for transmission (Step 214). After this, the Controller 20 notifies the Consumer 40 of the information on the port of the Producer 30 (Step 215) and receives a response from the Consumer 40 (Step 216). Next, the Consumer 40 issues a device authentication request command to the Producer 30 (Step 219) and they perform mutual device authentication and exchange of keys (Step 217).

  • Patent number: 6636953
Abstract: A receiving apparatus that sequentially receives and accumulates a plurality of broadcast contents into a storage medium deletes each content accumulated in the storage medium after a predetermined time period as the capacity of the storage medium is limited. The receiving apparatus is connected to at least one external device, and accepts a user designation of a content to be stored and of an external device into which the content is to be stored. The receiving apparatus schedules the transfer of the content in the available time period of the external device, and transfers the content to the external device if the device is not busy at the scheduled time.

  • Patent number: 6584552
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus is characterized in that said apparatus has: inputting means for receiving a packet data which is based on IEEE 1394, and in which signal information for indicating copy right information of an AV data (hereinafter, referred to as EMI) is provided in a header of a packet according to IEEE 1394; and recording and reproducing means for recording and reproducing an AV data and the EMI which are held in the packet data received by said inputting means. Four kinds of EMI are used, and, when an AV data indicating allowance “copy one generation” among them is to be recorded, said recording and reproducing means performs recording while rewriting the EMI to EMI indicating “no more copy.
