  • Patent number: 6411038
Abstract: In an installation structure of a glow plug with a combustion pressure sensor, a seat surface is provided in an installation hole formed in the engine so as to penetrate from outside into a combustion chamber of the engine. A contact surface is formed in the glow plug. The glow plug is partly inserted into the installation hole and is fixed via a ring shaped gasket to the engine so that the glow plug comes in pressurized contact with the engine in an axial direction of the installation hole. With the installation structure mentioned above, the elastic member is elastically more deformable in an axial direction of the installation hole than a portion of the glow plug on which the combustion pressure sensor is mounted.

  • Patent number: 6411369
Abstract: A recording sheet includes a micro-capsule layer which includes a plurality types of micro-capsules colored with different colors, for example, primary or complimentary colors of a subtractive mixture. The micro-capsules are filled with core materials which are discharged when the micro-capsules are broken. Each type of micro-capsule is selectively broken by a selective temperature and pressure application. When a micro-capsule is broken, the core material blends out the color of the micro-capsule. Additionally, an image forming system includes a heating unit for selectively heating the micro-capsules by an output of a Joule heat or light irradiation. Different wavelengths of light are radiated by the light irradiation heating unit, which are absorbed depending upon an absorption band exhibited by the different colored micro-capsules.

  • Patent number: 6409557
Abstract: An outboard motor includes an improved arrangement for an exhaust system, in association with a lubricant tank and a cooling system, for a four-cycle internal combustion engine that powers the outboard motor. The cooling system discharges coolant independent of an exhaust pipe and an expansion chamber of the exhaust system so as to inhibit an influx of coolant into the engine should the engine become temporarily disabled. In addition, the cooling system provides a pool or bath of coolant between the exhaust pipe and the lubricant tank to inhibit excessive heating of these components during normal and abnormal running conditions (i.e., if the engine becomes disabled).

  • Patent number: 6409165
Abstract: A sheet trailing edge restriction member (65) according to the present invention has a main body (68) disposed upright in a sheet holding portion. The main body (68) is provided with a hook (71) for fixing the main body upright to the sheet holding portion. The restriction member is attached to and detached from the sheet holding portion by deforming the hook (71) toward a space (72) defined between the hook and the main body. Unless the hook is deformed toward the space (72), the restriction member cannot be detached from the sheet holding portion. The main body (68) is provided with a rear support plate (70) for supporting a rear end of a sheet stack. The rear support plate (70) is displaceable so as to support the rear end of the sheet stack. An insert (82) is provided integrally with the rear support plate (70). The insert (82) is usually inserted in the space (72) to prevent the deformation of the hook (71).

  • Patent number: 6411575
Abstract: An optical recording medium has a recording/reproduction conditions recording area for recording recording/reproduction conditions and recording/reproduction apparatus information identifying the recording/reproduction apparatus using the recording/reproduction conditions. When the optical recording medium is accessed in a recording/reproduction apparatus, the recording/reproduction conditions for the recording/reproduction apparatus are used. Therefore, recording or reproduction can be performed with use of optimum recording/reproduction apparatus information appropriate for the optical recording medium and for the recording/reproduction apparatus. When the optical recording medium is used for the first time, test recording is performed by using a test recording region provided in the optical recording medium, and the obtained recording/reproduction conditions are recorded.

  • Patent number: 6409296
Abstract: The invention is to vary the amount of the liquid discharged from a same discharge port, thereby realizing recording of multi gradation levels. After the discharge of a first liquid droplet 66a, a second liquid droplet 66b is discharged while the movable member 31 is still in a displaced state. In comparison with the first liquid droplet 66a, the second liquid droplet 66b has a larger discharge energy and a larger speed, because the moving energy of the movable member 31 and the energy consumed for the liquid flow opposite to the discharge port 18 are small. Thus the first and second droplets are united to form a united droplet 66d before landing on the recording medium 150. In this manner the amount of the discharged liquid can be varied.
