  • Patent number: 5572089
Abstract: A photomultiplier includes a photocathode and an electron multiplier. A typical structure of the electron multiplier is obtained such that a dynode unit constituted by stacking a plurality of dynode plates in the incident direction of photoelectrons, an anode plate, and an inverting dynode plate are stacked. The anode plate has electron through holes at a predetermined portion to cause secondary electrons emitted from the dynode unit to pass therethrough. Each electron through hole has a diameter on the inverting dynode plate side larger than that on the dynode unit side, thereby increasing the capture area of the secondary electrons orbit-inverted by the inverting dynode plate.

  • Patent number: 5572012
Abstract: A distance measuring device for a camera projects a pulsed light beam toward a subject and converts the reflected light from the subject to a voltage which is integrated by an integrating circuit. The output of the integrating circuit is compared with a first reference voltage until the level thereof exceeds the first reference voltage, and then the output of the integrated circuit is compared with a second reference voltage until the level thereof reaches the second reference voltage. The distance to the subject is calculated depending on the number of times the integration operation is performed.

  • Patent number: 5572169
Abstract: A temperature-compensated piezoelectric oscillator includes a voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator, a first frequency divider, a second frequency divider, and a controller. The voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator has an output frequency controlled by a control voltage and oscillates the output frequency having a center frequency f.sub.0 at an ambient temperature of t.sub.0. The first frequency divider frequency-divides the output frequency from the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator by N to output a first divided output frequency. The second frequency divider frequency-divides the output frequency from the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator by M to output a second divided output frequency. The controller controls the control voltage to be applied to the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator on the basis of a frequency difference between the first and second divided output frequencies upon a variation in ambient temperature of t.sub.

  • Patent number: 5572733
Abstract: A data processing system for executing a process. Classes and composite classes are formed by combining methods. Instances are formed and correspond to the classes and composite classes. The real world is analyzed as an object model which includes a static world, a dynamic world and a cause and effect relationship. The object model has a corresponding extension and a corresponding connotation. The connotation is in an information concealed region, and identification information identifies the extension and connotation. A system mechanism is created with respect to the static world using the classes and composite classes, where the system mechanism is a static model for the static world. The instances are used to form a session corresponding to motion with respect to the dynamic world, where the session is a dynamic model for the dynamic world. The cause and effect relationship of the object model is generated from the dynamic model into the static model.

  • Patent number: 5572502
Abstract: An optical disk apparatus includes a recording method in which at least one of the scanning position, the irradiation time, the irradiation start point and the irradiation power of a light beam is arbitrarily changed, and a method and apparatus in which information is represented by a plurality of recording marks without being limited to two kinds of recording and erasion. In order to prevent overlapping recording/erasion, a recording clock generating unit delays a reference clock signal to generate a recording clock signal and a recording control unit transfers user data to an optical head in synchronism with the recording clock signal so that it is recorded on an optical disk. Also, the amount of delay is recorded to enable sure reading or reproduction. At the time of reading, a servo mark detection signal is divided to generate a clock signal having a variable frequency, thereby realizing an optical disk for which high-precision recording/reproduction is possible.

  • Patent number: 5568733
Abstract: An air conditioner includes a means for detecting a frequency for controlling an AC motor of a compressor, a means for determining whether the frequency during operation converges to within a predetermined range, of the frequency required to maintain the designated temperature, and a means for shifting the designated temperature by a predetermined temperature when the frequency converges to the predetermined range. The temperature is shifted when the frequency decreases and converges to the predetermined range while the air conditioner operation causes the room temperature to approach the designated temperature. Thus, even if the body temperature of a user decreases because, for example, he is sleeping, the stable state of the operation can be accurately determined and thereby a comfortable temperature is maintained.
