  • Patent number: 4874912
Abstract: A hook switch has a box-shaped body an an open end. Within the box-shaped body there is fixed at least one contact piece, and extending from the box-shaped body is an arm on which an actuator is rotatably mounted. A slider is received within the box-shaped body. This slider has a spring biased protrusion with a spherical top which extends through a hole in a cover of the box-shaped body and is engaged by the actuator and displaced against the spring bias. In the process, a movable contact piece mounted on the slider engages a corresponding fixed contact piece mounted within the box-shaped body.

  • Patent number: 4874645
Abstract: A finisher installed at the rear end of an automotive vehicle body. The finisher is comprised of two plate-like plastic parts which are joined at a parting plane with each other. The two plate-like plastic parts have respectively outer surfaces which are planarly aligned with each other to form a common flat outer surface. At least one of the two plate-like plastic parts is colored. The parting plane includes a horizontal flat narrower section which is generally perpendicular to the outer surface, and an inclined flat wider section contiguous to the horizontal section and inclined relative to the outer surface in such a manner as to form an acute angle between it and the outer surface defining the colored plastic part, thereby improving the strength and appearance of the finisher.

  • Patent number: 4873018
Abstract: An optically active 2-fluoro-1-alkanol compound represented by the formula (Ia): ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group having 1-16 carbon atoms, and C* is an asymmetric carbon atom; and an optically active compound derived from the fluoroalkanol and represented by the formula (Ib): ##STR2## wherein R and C* are the same as above, m is 1 or 2, n is 0 or 1, and A is a releasable substitutent. Because of the fluorine atom directly attached to an asymmetric carbon atom, these compounds are particularly effective in increasing a spontaneous polarization, improving a electric field responsive characteristic of a liquid crystal composition, and controlling the liquid crystal state.

  • Patent number: 4872972
Abstract: An apparatus for classifying particles entrained by a solid-gas jet stream includes a feed nozzle, a cyclonic wall having an inner arcuate wall, and an auxiliary inner arcuate wall provided at an outlet port of the nozzle. The solid-gas stream is preliminarily bent along the auxiliary inner wall so that the particles are preliminarily or roughly classified into undersized and oversized particles by the action of the centrifugal force before they are classified by the cyclonic wall. The apparatus may include a collecting port disposed downstream of the nozzle outlet port and spaced slightly away from the inner arcuate wall of the cyclonic wall. The collecting port permits the apparatus to collect the undersized particles in a more effective manner.

  • Patent number: 4872548
Abstract: A belt conveyor having two rollers supported at opposite ends of a support frame and a belt stretched between the rollers, in which a cylinder having an operating rod reciprocatable in a moving direction of the belt is mounted on the support frame; a drum including a one way clutch mechanism therein and having a sprocket wheel fixed therearound is fitted around a transmission shaft integral with one of the rollers; a chain is wound around the sprocket wheel mounted around the drum including the one way clutch mechanism therein; and the chain is connected to the operating rod of the cylinder. When the operating rod of the cylinder reciprocates, the chain is reciprocated by the operating rod. This reciprocatingly rotates the sprocket wheel mounted on the drum in which the one way clutch mechanism is installed. The rotation in a predetermined direction is transmitted, through the one way clutch mechanism, to the transmission shaft of the roller around which the belt is wound.

  • Patent number: 4871119
Abstract: An impact crushing machine provided with easily repairable strikers fixedly arranged along the circumference of a rotor at regular angular intervals so as to extend radially of the rotor. A plurality of seats fixedly mounted respectively with striking chips formed of a durable hard material such as a hard metal are arranged in lines and rows on and detachably fixed to the radially outer end of the striker for individual replacement. When the striking chip is abraded to an unusable extent, the seat mounted with the worn striking chip and a seat fixedly mounted with an unworn striking chip can be interchanged for the further use of the striker, so that the frequency of replacing the heavy striker with a new one is reduced and the operating cost of the impact crushing machine is reduced.
