  • Patent number: 6439680
Abstract: A recording head comprises a plurality of recording elements for performing recording; a driving circuit for driving the plurality of recording elements; and a predetermined voltage generating circuit for generating a predetermined voltage to be applied to the plurality of recording elements from voltage supplied from outside. With the head thus structured, a desired voltage is generated in the interior of the head by use of the predetermined voltage generating circuit for performing recording, thus making it possible to prevent the voltage drop which may take place if the voltage is supplied from outside through a cable, as well as to prevent the durability of the heat generating elements from being damaged due to noises. It also becomes possible to set the voltage to be applied to the recording elements at an optimal value corresponding to the discharge voltage, hence stabilizing ink discharges efficiently.

  • Patent number: 6428154
Abstract: An ink cartridge for ink jet use is provided with an aperture for filling in the cartridge with ink. The circumference of the aperture and a part of a plug pressed in the aperture are fused and welded to be formed integrally to airtightly close the aperture, and obtain an integrated structure without any interface. Hence, it is made possible to reliably prevent ink from leaking therefrom, even if some scratches and cracks are present on both of them. This contributes to eliminating inspection steps to find ink leakage in the course of manufacture, and also, contributes to improving the yield of production. As a result, a significant reduction of costs is possible, while enhancing the reliability of the ink cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6409296
Abstract: The invention is to vary the amount of the liquid discharged from a same discharge port, thereby realizing recording of multi gradation levels. After the discharge of a first liquid droplet 66a, a second liquid droplet 66b is discharged while the movable member 31 is still in a displaced state. In comparison with the first liquid droplet 66a, the second liquid droplet 66b has a larger discharge energy and a larger speed, because the moving energy of the movable member 31 and the energy consumed for the liquid flow opposite to the discharge port 18 are small. Thus the first and second droplets are united to form a united droplet 66d before landing on the recording medium 150. In this manner the amount of the discharged liquid can be varied.
