  • Patent number: 9342024
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a sensor section includes a sheet path through which the sheet passes in a sheet feeding direction. In the sensor section, a light source unit emits light to an irradiation area set in the sheet path. Here, the light is elongated in a main-scanning direction and has quantities of light varying according to positions in the main-scanning direction and according to positions in a height direction perpendicular to a sheet feed surface. In addition, in the sensor section, a light-receiving section receives light diffused in a predetermined diffusing direction among the light emitted from the light source and then irradiated to the sheet passing in the sheet path and outputs information representing quantities of the received light. In the image forming apparatus, a control section extracts a parameter from the information and derives an amount of curl of the sheet.

  • Publication number: 20160134770
Abstract: A first locking portion restricts displacement of a portion of a first exterior member that is proximate to a second edge portion in a direction away from a body portion. An elastic member supports the first exterior member at a position proximate to the second edge portion. The elastic member retains the first exterior member at a first position where the first edge portion is overlapped with the inner side of the adjacent second exterior member, and is elastically deformed until the first exterior member is displaced from the first position to a second position where the first edge portion is not overlapped with the second exterior member.

  • Patent number: 9199487
Abstract: A conveyance device 20 of an inkjet printer 1 has a discharge roller 46 disposed on the downstream side of the printing position A in the forward conveyance direction, and a paper jam detector 83 disposed on the downstream side of the discharge roller 46. The paper jam detector 83 includes a driven roller 84, driven pressure roller 85, and an encoder 86 that detects the angle of rotation of the driven roller 84 . The driven roller 84 turns following movement of the continuous paper 2 passing between the driven roller 84 and driven pressure roller 85. The control unit 90 of the inkjet printer 1 detects occurrence of a paper jam based on the difference between the angle of rotation of the driven roller 84 and a reference angle of rotation when the conveyance motor 60 continues driving after the continuous paper has passed through the conveyance path 21.

  • Patent number: 9126426
Abstract: A transfer control method of continuous paper includes controlling a transfer amount of the continuous paper based on a rotational amount detected by a roller feeding amount detecting unit which detects the rotational amount of a paper feed roller, when each page of the continuous paper is printed, and when the printing on each page is completed, performing a cueing process of transferring the continuous paper until a printing start position of a next page reaches the printing position. The cueing process includes transferring the continuous paper until the continuous paper reaches a reference transfer position based on the feeding amount of the tractor detected by a tractor feeding amount detecting unit for detecting a feeding amount of the tractor and after the continuous paper reaches the reference transfer position, setting the transfer amount of the continuous paper as a target feeding amount.

  • Patent number: 9122217
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a sensor section which the printed sheets fed from an image forming section pass through or by in a first direction one by one, irradiates each of the passing printed sheets with light elongated in a second direction different, thereby sensing densities of the each of passing printed sheets, on a pixel basis. Further, a control section integrates densities of respectively corresponding line portions in respective non-image areas of sheets of the printed sheets, based on the densities obtained by the sensor section, each of the line portion extending substantially in the first direction and including pixels on substantially a same position in the second direction, thereby obtaining integrated density values, and predicts, based on the obtained integrated density values, that a noise will occur on a printed sheet to be made by the image forming section later on.
