Patent number: 9968988Abstract: A blind rivet fastening device in which a passage for collecting broken mandrels is provided other than on the axis of the motor. A large collection chamber is provided for broken mandrels. A collection chamber for broken mandrels is provided in front of a brushless electric motor in the axial direction. When the electric motor rotates, power from the electric motor is transmitted to a spindle positioned to the rear of the collection chamber via a second shaft positioned below the collection chamber. When the spindle rotates, a pulling head moves in the axial direction. The axial position of the pulling head is determined by detecting the rotation count of the electric motor. Forward rotation, reverse rotation, and stopping of the electric motor are controlled based on the operation of a trigger and the axial position of the pulling head. Excessive torque is avoided by clutches.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2014Date of Patent: May 15, 2018Assignee: NEWFREY LLCInventor: Hiroyuki Masugata

Patent number: 9889495Abstract: A blind rivet fastening tool in which the jaws are open at the original position, and at a return step in which the tool is returned to the original position after a blind rivet is fastened the fastened blind rivet is pushed out. The tool comprises a hollow nose housing for housing a mandrel; a nose piece provided at a front end of the nose housing and having an opening; a floating piece provided at a front end of the inside of the nose piece; the floating piece having a though hole in which the mandrel is inserted; a jaw guide provided at the back side of floating piece and having an inside surface which has a smaller diameter toward the front end thereof; jaws provided inside the jaw guide for holding the mandrel; a pulling head and a jaw pusher for respectively pulling back and pushing forward the jaws.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2014Date of Patent: February 13, 2018Assignee: NEWFREY LLCInventor: Hiroyuki Masugata

Patent number: 8443512Abstract: The present invention provides a small electric blind rivet setting device that is capable of being driven by a battery and that does not require a pathway for recovering the broken mandrels to be provided in the motor shaft. A recovery container 10 is provided in a tool housing 27 forward of an electric motor 13 in the axial direction, and a spindle 14, which rotates because of the rotation of a drive shaft 18 connected to the electric motor circumventing the recovery container, is connected so as to move a pulling head (30) in the axial direction. The positive rotation, stopping of rotation and reverse rotation of the electric motor are controlled by a pulling operation on a trigger and detecting the position of the pulling head in the axial direction.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2011Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventor: Hiroyuki Masugata

Publication number: 20100275424Abstract: To provide a blind rivet fastening device that makes it easy to mount a blind rivet in the nose and that keeps the mounted blind rivet from falling out of the nose. When the nose is connected slidably to the tool housing in the axial direction, the nose resists the action of the elastic pushing means and is slid so as to be pulled rearward in the axial direction, and the jaw is pulled rearward in the axial direction in the jaw guide. When this has occurred, the inner diameter of the jaw is increased, the mandrel is easily inserted into the jaw, the force pulling the nose rearward in the axial direction is released, the jaw is returned forward axially in the jaw guide by the pushing force of the elastic pushing means, and the inner peripheral surface of the jaw is frictionally engaged with the mandrel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2010Publication date: November 4, 2010Applicant: NEWFREY LLCInventor: Hiroyuki Masugata

Patent number: 7059815Abstract: An elastic fastener 1 comprises a hollow tubular portion 7, an internally threaded portion 2 provided at one of the ends of the tubular portion 7, and a flange 9 formed at the other end of the tubular portion 7. The tubular portion 7 and the flange 9 are integrally formed of an elastomeric material, such as a styrene-based elastomer, a polyamide-based elastomer and a polyester-based elastomer. The internally threaded portion 2 is formed of a rigid resin material such as a polycarbonate resin. The internally threaded portion 2 is integrally fixed to the tubular portion 7 in a hole of the tubular portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2004Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Toshio Ando, Hiroyuki Masugata
