  • Patent number: 5746847
Abstract: An aluminum alloy containing magnesium (Mg) between 3.0 and 4.0 wt. %, manganese (Mn) between 0.5 and 1.0 wt. %, copper (Cu) between 0.2 and 0.6 wt. %, iron (Fe) between 0.05 and 0.4 wt. % and remaining obligatory trace elements, has an electrical conductivity after baking of 30 to 32% IACS, a yield strength of 320 MPa or more and a ratio of decrease in buckling strength after retort-treatment to that immediately after manufacturing the can end of less than 10%. This an aluminum alloy sheet for can ends has an excellent corrosion resistance, complete lack of stress corrosion cracking, or age softening resistance, maintains the a high buckling strength obtained subsequent to the manufacture of a can, even after retort treatment and storage at room temperature. The aluminum alloy sheet of this invention is particularly suitable for use as a can end for non-carbonated beverages and has the potential for even thinner aluminum alloy sheet formation.

  • Patent number: 5114467
Abstract: A method for manufacturing rare earth-iron magnetostrictive materials such as Tb.sub.x Dy.sub.1-x Fe.sub.2-w wherein 0.20.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.1.00 and 0.ltoreq.w.ltoreq.0.20. Rare earth and iron raw materials are continuously fed into a plasma arc melting furnace having a plasma arc torch and a water-cooled bottomless elongated mold located beneath the torch. The raw materials are melted together by plasma flames to form a pool of a molten alloy at the top of the mold. Heat is removed from the melt by water cooling through the mold, thereby causing the melt to solidify progressively from the bottom thereof. The solidified body is continuously pulled down in the mold.

  • Patent number: 4862501
Abstract: A communications network has a plurality of customer terminals and a single center terminal which are coupled through communication lines. A large scale integrated circuit is operatively coupled to each terminal. The integrated circuit device has enciphering and deciphering functions and has a recording device. When a transaction request message is sent from one customer terminal to the center, the transaction request message is enciphered by the integrated circuit device, and the enciphered message is sent to the center. In order to increase the transaction verification capability, the transmission message is recorded, in association with encryption of the transmission message, in an area of the recording device which can be accessed from outside only for readout. In order to further improve the transaction verification capability, the response message is enciphered by the integrated circuit device in the center.

  • Patent number: 4823388
Abstract: A communications network system is constructed by connecting a plurality of customer terminals to one central terminal via communication lines. Enciphering devices and a deciphering device, such as IC (integrated circuit) cards, are provided for the terminals. In order to achieve a digital signature for a transaction message sent from a customer to the center, the message is enciphered according to a prescribed enciphering algorithm using a key word that can specify the sender and the transaction. At the central terminal the enciphered message is deciphered according to a prescribed deciphering algorithm that is different from the enciphering algorithm using a key word which can specify the sender and the transaction. The key data and encipering and deciphering algorithms are sealed in the enciphering and deciphering devices such that they cannot be accessed from the outside.

  • Patent number: 4313163
Abstract: An apparatus for generating a tomographic display projects X-ray beams in a fan-shaped array through a subject in many directions within a plane, detects how much each X-ray has been absorbed by the subject, and obtains the X-ray absorption coefficient of a given point of the subject existing within the plane. X-ray absorption data are back-projected onto a reference line existing in the plane are accumulated in the pixels defining the subject under examination, are distributed onto said given point of the subject, to obtain the distribution of X-ray absorption coefficients in said plane of the subject.

  • Patent number: 4219876
Abstract: In a computed tomography system using radiation, a large number of radiation beams are projected into a selected slice-like sectional portion of a subject to be reconstructed, in various directions. A profile of measured projection data is obtained from the radiation beams penetrated in parallel at each given angular interval. The profile of measured projection data thus obtained is subjected to a filtering operation to produce profiles of first modified projection data. The profile of modified projection data is recasted at properly selected intervals to produce second modified projection data. This results in a remarkable reduction of the amount of weight coefficients required in an interpolation to calculate the modified projection data for a large number of picture elements defined in matrix fashion on the sectional portion.
