Abstract: An image pickup unit according to the present invention, includes a solid-state image pickup device provided with a light receiving portion for receiving photographing light refracted and reflected by a reflection surface of an optical reflection member. The image pickup unit also includes a protection member which is surface-joined to and to protect at least the area of an effective reflection surface within the reflection surface by which the photographing light is refracted and made incident on the light receiving portion. Thereby, when the image pickup unit is provided in an electronic endoscope including the optical component for refracting and reflecting the photographing light, it is possible to improve the assembling property of the image pickup unit including the optical component, and possible to prevent the optical component from being damaged under various environment.

Abstract: An endoscope in accordance with the present invention provides an endoscope having an image pickup apparatus and including a first connection portion provided on one side surface of a first solid-state image pickup device to connect the first solid-state image pickup device to a first circuit board, and a second connection portion provided on one side surface of a second solid-state image pickup device to connect the second solid-state image pickup device to a second circuit board, the first solid-state image pickup device and the second solid-state image pickup device being arranged in proximity to each other so that a side surface of the first solid-state image pickup device which does not have the first connection portion lies opposite to a side surface of the second solid-state image pickup device which does not have the second connection portion.

Abstract: An outer sheath of a metal film is provided on an outer peripheral surface of a tube base layer of a channel tube which is provided within an insertion section and has flexibility. A grounding circuit provided in an operation section and the metal film are connected, and electromagnetic shield means is provided for reducing noise which is produced from a radio-frequency therapeutic device inserted in a therapeutic device insertion channel and is mixed in an electric signal output from an imaging section.

Abstract: A medical treatment instrument is provided with a treatment section for treating issue, an insertion section which has at one end the treatment section, and an operating section which is provided at the other end of the insertion section, operates the treatment section, and has a fixed portion and a movable portion. The treatment section is actuated by pivoting the movable portion with respect to the fixed portion. The medical treatment instrument is further provided with an actuating main body and a cover. The cover is displaceable between a first position in which the medical treatment instrument is used and a second position in which the inside of the operating section is uncovered.
