An image reading section reads the print product and generates a scanned image of the print product. A reference image analysis section detects a line region and a photo region from the scanned image. The detected line region is determined as one of a character region and a bar code region. Settings of the inspection of the print product are set based on a result of the detection and a result of the determination. The inspection of the print product is performed based on the settings of the inspection.
