  • Patent number: 6762259
Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide polymerization catalyst which can produce quite efficiently (co)polymer having number average molecular weight and number of molecules which are accurately controlled in producing method of (co)polymer by the polymerization of polar unsaturated compound, and provide living polymerized (co)polymer obtained according to the producing method. For the purpose, polymerization catalyst composition which comprises the composition comprising organic oxysalt compound and hydroxycarbonyl compound having at least both an alcoholic hydroxyl group and a carbonyl group in the same molecule is provided and the polar unsaturated compound is polymerized by using the polymerization catalyst composition. The composition containing the obtained (co)polymer were able to provide thermosetting powder coating composition having particularly excellent characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6388012
Abstract: A thermosetting powder paint composition comprising (A) a resin composition component, (B) a hardener component and (C) a solid flow controlling component, wherein the component (A) contains a resin composition component having reactivity with the component (B), the component (B) contains a hardener having reactivity with the component (A), the component (C) contains a vinyl polymer which is solid at 20° C., and the relation between SPA of the component (A) and SPC of the component (C) satisfies the following numerical formula (1) and the following numerical formula (2) simultaneously. By this constitution, excellent blocking-resistance in storing as the powder paint composition and excellent appearance properties of a paint film formed by coating the powder paint composition can be simultaneously manifested. 8≦SPA≦13  (1) 7≦SPC≦SPA  (2).

  • Patent number: 6359067
Abstract: A thermosetting powder coating composition which comprises a resin composition (A) having a sea-island type microphase separation structure constituted of a continuous phase (a sea phase) comprising an acrylic copolymer and a dispersion phase (an island phase) comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a curing agent (B) and in which the total amount of a thermosetting elastomer (a-2) constituting the dispersion phase is in the range of 0.5 to 20 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the resin composition (A). This powder coating composition is excellent in chipping resistance, impact resistance, weathering resistance and appearance properties, and it is particularly suitable for the coating of vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6333380
Abstract: There are disclosed a thermosetting resin composition for a powder paint in which a resin composition component (A) is a (block) copolymer obtained by allowing a vinyl-based polymer G (branch) block (component (a-1)) to graft-react with a vinyl-based polymer S (back bone) block (component (a-2)), and if the solubility parameters of the components (a-1) and (a-2) are represented by SPG and SPG, respectively, SPG and SPS satisfy the following numerical formula (I), and a thermosetting powder paint composition comprising a resin composition component (A) and a hardener composition component (B) wherein the component (A) is said thermosetting resin composition for a powder paint. By these compositions, a thermosetting powder paint composition having excellent storage stabilities, appearance properties, physical properties and chemical properties can be provided.
