    Abstract: An image processing apparatus, an image reading apparatus, an image forming apparatus and a computer-readable recording-medium for storing an image processing program are disclosed. The image processing apparatus can synthesize coded data encoded in accordance with JPEG 2000 standard from source and target images at a higher speed with less use of a memory. The image processing apparatus includes a search part and an objective block synthesis part. The search part searches coded data of the source image per predetermined independently processable block for an objective block corresponding to a designated synthesis area. The objective block synthesis part synthesizes detected coded data of the objective block of the source image and coded data of the objective block of the target image.

    Abstract: An image decoding device for decoding a hierarchically encoded compressed code obtained by dividing an image into a plurality of tiles and performing discrete wavelet transform on the pixel values of the image tile by tile includes a tile boundary smoothing part that performs smoothing of tile boundary distortion on the image after the decoding by application of a low-pass filter. The tile boundary smoothing part controls the degree of smoothing of the low-pass filter according to the ratio of the decoding quantity to the entire quantity of the compressed code. The decoding quantity is the portion of the compressed code which portion is to be decoded.

The temporarily truncated frames are included in a group of frames of the moving image. In response to an undo releasing command, a code line discarding unit discards the temporarily truncated code line or frames. The encoded data has a form of JPEG2000 or Motion-JPEG2000.
