Abstract: A disc drive apparatus employs a locking mechanism for locking a movable base structural component to a stationary frame during disc loading and unloading operations. The locking mechanism is associated with a head drive mechanism which drives a head including a head for transferring information between a disc and the head, toward and away from the disc, so that the locking mechanism is operated between the locking position in which the movable base frame is restricted from movement relative to the stationary frame, and on unlocking positon in which the movable base frame is permitted to move relative to the stationary frame.

Abstract: A disc player has a slide table mounted to slide horizontally into and out of a casing, a disc tray supported rotatably on the slide table and having a plurality of recessed disc storage areas arranged about its center of rotation to store a plurality of discs on its top surface a drive mechanism for rotating the disc tray and halting it at predetermined positions, an optical pickup and a turntable disposed within the casing at a play position for reproducing the disc placed at the play position by the disc tray, and a loading mechanism for displacing the slide table and controlling rotation of the disc tray so that, when the slide table is displaced from a first position outside of the casing to a second position within the casing, the foremost disc storage area of the disc tray in the first position is rotated to the play position in the second position.

Abstract: A record changer for a record playing apparatus of the type including a center spindle on which records are adapted to be held and then dropped onto a turntable to be played, includes a tone arm for reproducing signals which are recorded on a record, dropped onto the turntable, a detecting device for detecting the position of the tone arm, an operating mechanism for controlling the operation of the record changer when the detecting device detects that the tone arm is in an inoperative position, and a device for stopping the operation of the record changer during operation of the operating means when the detecting device detects that the tone arm is in an operative position.
