  • Patent number: 5079525
Abstract: An RF modulator comprising an FM modulator supplied with an audio signal, and AM modulator supplied with the FM modulator output and a video signal, an oscillator for generating a sound subcarrier signal, and an oscillator for generating a main carrier signal. Each of the oscillators consists of a VCO with a PLL circuit, and the entire components are composed of a single IC chip so as to be formed into a compact miniature structure. A modified RF modulator includes a PLL circuit for varying the oscillation frequency of a VCO by a variable frequency divider, and a modulation circuit supplied with a modulating signal and the oscillation output of the VCO. The division ratio (integer) of the variable frequency divider is continuously varied, and the reference frequency of a reference oscillator is set to be less than a predetermined channel interval frequency, thereby reducing the frequency error in the modulated signal output.

  • Patent number: 4068256
Abstract: A chrominance signal trapping circuit is provided in a video signal monitoring line of a color video signal recording apparatus. An operation of the trapping circuit is ganged with an operation of a color killer circuit of the recording apparatus. The trapping circuit prevents a chrominance component of an input video signal from being supplied to a monitor connected to the recording apparatus when the recording apparatus is operating in a monochrome mode, whereby an operating mode of the monitor is made to a monochrome mode forcedly and an operating mode of the monitor can be coincident with an operating mode of the recording apparatus automatically.

  • Patent number: 4048650
Abstract: There is disclosed a still color television signal recording and reproducing apparatus which utilizes a single storage tube of a conventional type. Circuitry is shown which enables to store one field or frame of a color television signal together with a color burst signal in a single storage tube. Then, the stored signal is read out from the storage tube and supplied to a color television monitor which includes a color cathode ray tube in order to reproduce a still color picture thereon.

  • Patent number: 4037247
Abstract: There is disclosed a still color television signal recording and reproducing apparatus which utilizes a single storage tube of a conventional type. Circuitry is shown which enables to store one field or frame of a color television signal together with a color burst signal in a storage tube and to read out the stored signal from the storage tube with minimum frequency deviation for the color burst and chrominance signals. Then, the read out signal is supplied to a color television monitor including a reference oscillator which is phase-locked to the color burst signal in order to demodulate a plurality of color component signals whereby a still color picture of good quality is reproduced on a cathode ray tube in the color television monitor.

  • Patent number: 4012774
Abstract: In an apparatus for processing reproduced color video signals composed of a frequency-modulated luminance component and a frequency-converted chrominance component having its carrier frequency substantially below a standard frequency therefor; there are provided a drop-out compensating circuit responsive to a drop-out in the luminance component for inserting, in the interval of such drop-out, an earlier occurring portion of the luminance component, a frequency-converter receiving the chrominance component and a frequency-reconverting signal for restoring the carrier frequency to the standard frequency therefor, an automatic frequency control circuit (AFC) responsive to horizontal synchronizing signals separated from the luminance component after the drop-out compensation thereof so as to regulate the frequency-reconverting signal in the sense for removing time base errors from the reproduced color video signals, and a circuit which is responsive to a drop-out in the luminance component for maintaining the fre

  • Patent number: 3968514
Abstract: In recording PAL television signals, the chrominance signal components of field intervals are recorded in successive parallel tracks on a record medium. The ends of the margins between the line intervals of each field are recorded in each of the tracks and are aligned, in the direction transverse to the lengths of the tracks, with the adjacent ends of such margins in the next adjacent tracks. Interference, or cross-talk, between signals recorded in adjacent tracks is reduced or eliminated during reproduction by converting the alternating polarity chrominance component into one of fixed polarity, similar to an NTSC signal, and then recording the information signals with different first and second carriers in the adjacent tracks, respectively. Such first and second carriers for signals recorded in adjacent tracks may be distinguished from each other by their respective frequency and/or polarity characteristics.

  • Patent number: RE29975
Abstract: In reducing crosstalk between the low frequency, frequency-converted chrominance portions of h-aligned video signals on adjacent tracks, the frequency converting carrier, but not the entire frequency converted portion, has its polarity inverted at the end of each line interval during the recording of alternate tracks but not during the recording of the remaining alternate tracks. This eliminates the extraneous signal that would otherwise be produced in the balanced modulator of the playback apparatus by any direct voltage offset or transient remanent of a direct voltage offset in the recorded signal.
