  • Publication number: 20130080806
Abstract: Power consumption is reduced without reducing convenience in a media processing device having a programmable device that requires configuration. The media processing device has a plurality of control devices, at least one control device is a CPU 101, and at least one control device is a programmable device that requires configuration when the power turns on, such as a FPGA 104. The CPU 101 executes a power supply control process based on specific conditions to set the FPGA 104, which is a programmable control device, and the CPU 101, which is one of the control devices, to a sleep mode in stages. The CPU 101 can also change the transition time for setting the FPGA 104 to the sleep mode after the specific condition is met in the power supply control process.

  • Patent number: 8006051
Abstract: A data processing device with maintenance counters reliably stores the maintenance counter values. A data processing device such as a printer has RAM for storing the maintenance counter values, EEPROM segmented into a nonvolatile maintenance counter area and a temporary maintenance counter storage area, and a CPU for updating the maintenance counter values in RAM based on detection of a state change in the printer. The CPU writes the maintenance counter values accumulated in RAM at a predetermined time to the temporary maintenance counter storage area, and at a predetermined time writes the maintenance counter values from the temporary maintenance counter storage area to the nonvolatile maintenance counter area.

  • Patent number: 7634648
Abstract: A data processing apparatus and a control method for a data processing apparatus can start up by running a normal boot program the next time the power turns on in the event the power turns off while rewriting the boot program to flash ROM by temporarily providing a plurality of boot sectors instead of always maintaining a plurality of boot sectors in flash ROM. During the memory writing mode the flash ROM 101 is segmented into a boot selector sector 201, main sector 202, first boot sector 203, and a second boot sector 204 that is temporarily reserved by overwriting a part of the main sector 202 in the memory writing mode.
