  • Patent number: 7103604
Abstract: A scheme for constructing a database in a user system, which can automatically store those portions of the structured documents which contain important contents without exerting a burden on the user is disclosed. A structured document provided by a server device is obtained according to a document request made by the user system, where each structured document has a structure represented by tags in each structured document. Then, at least one important portion is automatically extracted from the structured document by utilizing the structure of the structured document according to prescribed extraction criteria specified in advance, and the extracted important portion is stored into the database, while the obtained structured document is transferred to the user system.

  • Patent number: 6608833
Abstract: In a label switched path (LSP) including label switching nodes, some of which process a Time To Live (TTL) value of a generic label header and others of which that do not process the TTL value, an adequate hop-count information regarding the LSP is reported from node to node by using a label distribution protocol. A node, which has received a message including a hop-count of the LSP from an upstream node or a downstream node, determines whether or not the node itself is to update the TTL value in a packet if received through the LSP. The node then transmits a message indicating that the hop-count is one or a message including the incremented hop-count, in accordance with this determination, to the downstream node or the upstream node. Thus, upon transferring packets on the LSP, the nodes forming the LSP that process the TTL value can appropriately decrement the TTL value of the packet.

  • Patent number: 6515999
Abstract: A router is usable to transfer a packet from a first node belonging to one logical network to a second node belonging to another logical network. The router receives a first message for resource reservation from the second node, and stores a correspondence relationship between a first virtual connection available for receiving a packet of a specified flow from the first node and a second virtual connection available for transmitting the packet of the specified flow to the second node, when the first and second virtual connections exist. The router transmits a second message for resource reservation based on the first message to the first node, when the correspondence relationship can be stored. Alternatively, the router, after transmitting the second message to the first node irrespective of the correspondence relationship, transmits a cancellation message to the first node for canceling the second message depending upon whether the correspondence relationship can be stored.

  • Patent number: 6356553
Abstract: A mechanism for performing multicast packet transfer when a certain one of the destination nodes participating in the multicast communication requires resource reservation for a certain packet flow specified among the packet flows to that destination node. A system may transfer multicast packets using a plurality of virtual connections based on which flow the packets to be transferred belong to, so that each node receives the packets without duplication. Alternatively, a system may selectively discard received packets to avoid processing duplicated packets, although duplicated packets are received at each node.

  • Patent number: 6341127
Abstract: A router device for controlling label switching path set up is disclosed. In the router device, a,policy information indicating a permitted starting point of a label switching path is stored, and a request message that contains a starting point information indicating a starting point node/network of the requested label switching path and a stream information indicating a desired packet stream to be transferred through the requested label switching path is received. Then, whether or not to permit the set up of the requested label switching path is judged by comparing the starting point information contained in the request message with the stored policy information, and the requested label switching path through the router device for the desired packet stream indicated by the stream information contained in the request message is set up when the set up of the requested label switching path is judged as permitted.

  • Patent number: 6304577
Abstract: A node manages a virtual connection (VC) in a network such that at least one unused virtual connection to the neighboring node is established and registered. When a VC is needed to transmit a packet, the node obtains the required VC by selecting one of the registered unused VCs instead of setting up a new VC. When a VC in use becomes no longer necessary, the node registers the VC as an unused VC instead of releasing the VC.
