Patent number: 6310242Abstract: Disclosed are a novel process for preparing D-alloisoleucine and an improved process for epimerizing L-isoleucine to prepare D-alloisoleucine. In the former process, (2S, 3S)-tartaric acid derivative of formula I below; wherein R stands for a hydrogen atom, a C1-C3 lower alkyl group, lower alkoxy group, chlorine atom, bromine atom and nitro group; and “n” is a number of 0, 1 and 2; is combined with an epimer mixture of L-isoleucine and D-alloisoleucine in a reaction medium to form a complex of D-alloisoleucine and the compound of formula I. The precipitated complex is decomposed by putting it in an alcohol to isolate D-alloisoleucine. In the latter process, L-isoleucine is suspended in an inert solvent which does not substantially dissolve amino acids, and epimerized in the presence of C1-C5 saturated lower fatty acid and salicylaldehyde.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1999Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Yamakawa Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hirofumi Noda, Koji Ohsaka, Kenichi Sakai, Hisamichi Murakami

Patent number: 5792869Abstract: Process for preparing optically active 2-piperazine-carboxylic acid derivatives, particularly S-enantiomer thereof, in high yield and high optical purity on industrial scale. As the optical resolving agents, easily accessible sulfonamides derived from selected optically active amino acids, such as N-tosyl-L-phenylalanine, N-tosyl-D-phenylglycine, N-tosyl-L-alanine or N-tosyl-L-valine, give excellent results. These resolving agents are stable and easily recovered from the reaction mixture and reused. Resolved 2-piperazinecarboxylic acid derivatives are preferably isolated as 4-t-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) derivatives. Diastereomeric salts (an example being shown below) formed as the intermediates of resolution are novel. ##STR1## ?In the formula "Ar" stands for a phenyl or naphthyl group which may be substituted with one to three C1-C6 alkyl groups, halogen atoms, nitro or alkoxy groups; and n=0 or 1.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1995Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: Yamakawa Chemical Industry Co., LtdInventors: Hisamichi Murakami, Shoko Satoh, Tadashi Tobiyama, Ken'ichi Sakai, Hiroyuki Nohira

Patent number: 3994932Abstract: 1-Aminoanthraquinone of high purity is obtained either by catalytically hydrogenating 5-nitro-1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone dissolved in a polar organic solvent such as methyl cellosolve (i.e., .beta.-hydroxyethyl methyl ether) in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst such as palladium on carbon or Raney nickel and then treating the resultant hydrogenated product with a base such as sodium hydroxide or pyridine, or by catalytically hydrogenating the 5-nitro-1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone in the presence of both the hydrogenation catalyst and the base. By the action of the base, the 5-nitro-1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone nucleus releases hydrogen atoms and is converted to the anthraquinone nucleus, and the released hydrogen serves to reduce the nitro group. Where an excess of hydrogen is introduced into the reaction system for hydrogenation, 1-aminoanthraquinone is further reduced into a leuco type compound thereof which can easily be returned to 1-aminoanthraquinone by oxidation.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1975Date of Patent: November 30, 1976Assignee: Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, IncorporatedInventors: Akio Iwamura, Hisamichi Murakami, Ichiro Okubo
