  • Patent number: 4520962
Abstract: A fuel inlet opens at one end between a valve seat and an inner surface of a valve housing on which a globe valve slides. The other end of the fuel inlet opens to an external surface of the valve housing. The fuel inlet runs almost in the direction of a central axis of the globe valve so as to prevent the formation of vortex flow around the globe valve. A spiral member is pressure fitted inside the valve housing immediately downstream of the valve seat with the spiral member being formed as a rod with a spiral fuel groove to swirl the fuel along the groove. An outlet orifice for fuel metering is formed immediately downstream of and as near as possible to the spiral member.

  • Patent number: 4517837
Abstract: An air flow rate measuring apparatus in which an air flow sensor whose electric characteristic varies with the rate of air flowing by the sensor is supported on a heat-insulating support member and located in a bypass tube provided in the vicinity of the main venturi of an internal combustion engine, whereby the air flow sensor is isolated from adverse thermal influences so as to reduce an error in measuring air flow rate.

  • Patent number: 4403741
Abstract: An electromagnetic fuel injection valve including a valve seat of the conical shape located at one end of a fuel injection passage, movable valve means including a ball cooperating with the valve seat of the conical shape, a rod rigidly connected to the ball and a plunger rigidly connected to the rod, and an electromagnet for moving the plunger. The movable valve means is guided during the movement thereof in an axial direction in two positions, one position being on the outer periphery of the ball and the other position being on the outer periphery of the rod.

  • Patent number: 4378000
Abstract: A fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine having an intake manifold includes a throttle body defining therein an intake passage communicating at one end thereof with the intake manifold. A flow accelerating valve arranged in the intake passage upstream of a throttle valve cooperates with the wall surface of the intake passage to define a flow accelerating passage of a smaller flow area than the intake passage. The flow accelerating valve is angularly movable in response to a change in the intake fluid flow between a fully closed position in which the flow accelerating passage has a minimum flow area and a fully open position in which the flow accelerating passage has a maximum flow area, to thereby control the flow area of the flow accelerating passage. A fuel injector injects liquid fuel into the accelerated intake fluid flow passing through the flow accelerating passage.

  • Patent number: 4079710
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation system whereby a part of exhaust gas is recirculated to the downstream of the carburetor throttle valve through an exhaust recirculation passage for removing the nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine, wherein a pressure control valve is provided in the after-flow of the flow control valve which controls the rate of exhaust gas recirculated to the downstream of the throttle valve disposed halfway in said exhaust recirculation passage, said pressure control valve being arranged such that its opening will be reduced when negative pressure in the downstream of the throttle valve is high and that said opening will be enlarged when said negative pressure is low, whereby the amount of exhaust gas taken into the engine is made basically proportional to the air intake so that the recirculation ratio will be maintained substantially constant over a wide range of operation.

  • Patent number: 4038957
Abstract: A fuel control system for use in an internal combustion engine wherein the combustion device thereof comprises a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber provided therein with an ignition plug, the main and auxiliary combustion chambers communicating with each other through a through-hole. A rich mixture of gasified fuel and air is supplied to the auxiliary combustion chamber and a lean mixture of gasified fuel and air is supplied into the main combustion chamber and the mixture in the main combustion chamber is ignited by the flames produced in the auxiliary combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4002153
Abstract: An intake system adapted to be used in combination with an internal combustion engine having a main combustion chamber and a preliminary or subcombustion chamber equipped with an ignition plug. There is provided an intake cylinder having a venturi portion which allows the passing of the total amount of air being fed to both combustion chambers and a throttle valve controlling the amount of air being fed to respective combustion chambers. The intake cylinder is divided into a main intake passage and sub-intake passage, both of which lead to both combustion chambers, respectively. A metering orifice is provided in the sub-intake passage, so that a ratio in amount, of air passing through respective intake passages may be maintained at a given value. In respective intake passages, there are provided fuel discharge values, to which are connected fuel passages leading from a single fuel pressure controlling valve for use in providing fuel pressure commensurate with the negative pressure in the venturi portion.
