  • Patent number: 4632599
Abstract: In a compacting machine for compacting a road or the like, the machine has a pre-assembled primary roller drum 4 and another roller drum 20 which perform a different compaction function than that of the primary roller drum. The roller drum 20 is formed by providing a plurality of split roller segments 21, 22. The segments are formed by dividing an annular wall member, at circumferentially different portions in the axial direction into a plurality of split roller segments having a mounting portion. Then the segments are combined together and detachably mounted to the outer surface of the roller drum 4 of the compacting machine.

  • Patent number: 4619552
Abstract: An improved vibration proof suspension type vibrating roller is disclosed which includes a rolling roller rotatably supported in a frame structure, a hydraulic motor for rotating the rolling roller and a hydraulic motor for rotating a vibration generating shaft with an eccentric mass fixedly mounted thereon. A plurality of vibration proof members made of elastic material such as rubber or the like are fixedly secured to both the sides of the frame structure on the inner surface thereof. A hydraulic motor unit including a hydraulic motor for rotating the rolling roller, a plate axle and associated components is fixedly secured to one half member of vibration proof members, while a hydraulic motor unit including a hydraulic motor for rotating the vibration generating shaft, a support plate and associated components is fixedly secured to the other half number of vibration proof members.

  • Patent number: 4577995
Abstract: An improved mechanism for generating vibrations in the horizontal plane for a ground compacting machine is disclosed. At least a rotary shaft with an eccentric mass mounted for generating required vibrations is rotatably supported within the rolling wheel. The rotary shaft adapted to be rotated by a hydraulic motor assumes the position where its center line of rotation is located on a linear line radially extending from the center line of rotation of the rolling wheel. Rotation of the hydraulic motor is usually transmitted to the rotary shaft for the eccentric mass via bevel gears. Typically, an opposing pair of rotary shafts are disposed opposite to one another relative to the center line of rotation of the rolling wheel. Three or more rotary shafts may be disposed in such a manner that their eccentric masses are distributed so as to assure good weight balance.
