    Abstract: In refining of a steel, the amount of heat taken away in a unit time by the exhaust gas leaving the refining vessel is observed, and, in response to change of the amount of heat, ratios of refining gases blown into the vessel are controlled so that oxidation loss of the metals may decrease, that temperature of the molten steel may be easily controlled, and that carbon content in the molten steel may be determined with decreased number of chemical analysis.
